Isildur1 because he turned online high stakes upside down. First he crushed well known players while they accepted to play NLH against him. Second because he was cheated and a lot of controversy raised from it and FTP's duality of criteria is being tested. Third, we may hear more from him during 2010, I don't believe he will disappear like martonas did.

I like the poll man, its a great idea ! Well i voted Phil Ivey for his final table on the main event of the wsop (i think he might have win this if AQ hadnt badbeat him. Winning this tournament would have made him definitively the best player^^ ). But well, if had some more vote, i would chose Isildur1 and Durrrr. I think that they are the players that made many people speaks !

Unfortunately I haven't founf any italian player in the list so I was '' obligezed '' to choose Phil Ivey I think is the strongest not only in this list but in general too

Why am I not on the list
ElkY, da_professional or pokerjamers...etc....screw these TV guys, I play online and some of them are the influential players for me...I could name many more I like to watch, many more id like to play. Not a brag but for the year playing mainly nl25 and nl100 (pre edit too my years profit out) 2-3 hrs per night and weekends 6hrs max, my profit kicks Tom Dwan all over the rooms.... Brian Tonwsend + Brian Hastings cough cough CHEATS..Martonas errr what happend to that guy? Isildur1 hmmm NOOB (to me) bloom???? then yer. Mr Moon glad for him but NO. PA + PI every year all the time. Thae Ice man... But Joe Cada dunno TBH. I vote ME

LOL, good one. So many good players up there it's hard to choose. I like how Isildur1 rocked high stakes poker. Of course then you have Patrick, durrrr and of course Ivey.
Guess I have to go with Phil, but There are a few people absent from the list who are prominent for what they do for poker away from the felt (Mike Sexton, Daniel Negreanu ). Maybe there should be a poll as to who was the biggest villian of 09. Townsend would be a favorite to win that poll.

to be honest i do not really follow much the poker society...except isildur lately. i voted for phil ivey simply because the newcomers disappear as fast as they got known. has been fun though to read about isildur as a newcomer? (still think its some hidden pro) who kicked some butts on high stakes.

ivey for (again) proving he really is the best pokerplayer in the world. - 6th & 7th bracelet plus main-event final table - one of the biggest winners on FTPs nosebleedstakes (not even isildur could take money from him) - being on almost every televised highstakes cashgame and still able to surprise with great moves - winning so big in sidebets that he could give his prizemoney for the first bracelet to the dealers - nobody can say poker is gambling when he watches ivey play
isildur was influential for onlinepoker, especially the highstakes, as he showed that it is still possible to get an edge over some of the worlds best players. but i wouldn't say he influenced poker in general so much. in how far the cheating-scandal will influence poker, well i guess we'll see soon
