Posted by mrnugger: i am a member at a other poker forum also and i believe that i am not the only one , but what happened to me past week was not that funny . i received a e-mail from admin at other forum and after i opened the mail my pc crashed completely , could do nothing no more , tried and tried for some days to fix it but nothing i did could help so yesterday i went to the shop buyed a new pc and asked to repair the old one . i have anti-virus at my pc from my provider and also kaspersky but even that did not protect me , so people be aware when you open a mail even when you think it's a safe mail from someone or some forum you know . at this point i can't tell the forum name because it's not allowed but if admin gives permition i will give forum name just in case of protection for mobmembers that maybe or member at this other forum also .
I get lots of fake emails saying casino this casino that from yahoo, Its all fake, all you have to do is click a wront internet box and you pc is toast until reformat, just the way it goes, I havent had to do this because i dont go to websites unless I have heard of them, example this one, I saw there name on full tilt and other poker sites for a few months so I knew they were ok or they wouldnt have private freerolls
this is a good reason NOT to ever give checking account numbers on line to anyone, There is a lot of ways to post money to poker sites, be careful in the future, hope all goes well

Everyone got a lot of fake emails... That's normal... that why it's stupid to open them not being sure from where they are. Even if i got mail from Party Poker or Poker stars or other Room if i don't remember their mail and i'm not sure if they are real i always go to the site and check their mail. Maybe it take some time but u're safer.

Posted by Administrator: Sorry to hear you had problems. But I don't see the point of putting the name of the forum in here as it's not even 100% sure the e-mail was in fact sent from that forum (why would they?). It's the easiest thing to forge the sender name (and e-mail address) in an e-mail. It can be done in the settings in every e-mail client basically and spammers use it very often to send spam/virus because the recipient is more likely to open the mail if it comes from somebody they might know.
that's what i also thought, i dont think its the site; hence, they needed as much member as they can...
