More and more pokersites use software that will only run on Win XP or even Vista and higher. Sofar I didn't find a site that supports Linux.
Today I tried to download Euro-poker and was told off for using Win-ME. I want to switch to Linux and give MicroShit the finger, but it looks like I have to give up on poker then.
So now I am wondering: Which Operating System do YOU (mainly) use?

lol. Yeah, there should be a way to cancel your poll maybe. The other poll is kinda redundant though so I figured I'd reply here.
I have a mac since last september and I can say I definitely prefer it to windows but microsoft still have this huge monopoly when it comes to the world of computer software. It's very hard for a poker player to get by without windows OS. I personally like the full tilt mac client but I haven't been able to use the party poker 'play anytime' option so not many options for me and even less for lunix I imagine.

Yeah, I conciddered a mac for a while but I do some race games as well, and I like to take the pc apart for upgrades sometimes. So now I think of maybe buy Win 7, anyone have experience with that already?

thats it...if it was possible i would use win2k (still the best OS in my opinion) but due to pokersites and other software that requires at least XP im forced to use XP.
edit: well, the best OS concerning microsoft software...

windows XP and works fine for everything!no problems at all!but program that like to use to go on net,that is mozilla firefox,not explorer,just like this one!

I personally don't like the way that we are forced to buy microsoft software. This is why we have competition laws. I prefer not to use internet explorer anyway but still use microsoft office programs, word, powerpoint etc cos there's simply no alternative. Maybe if more people put pressure on the poker sites to become more accessible to other os. But then it would probably only be windows and mac, and the way apple are growing atm we're still left with two software giants that really don't need to provide quality to make money.

We can only pray that more people find out how cheap and easy it is to use Linux. Next step would be to massively urge the sites to write/buy software for Linux-users.

You can always try using emulation software. Eg. Have Linux as your host, then install VMware or alike and then create a virtual XP/Vista/& or whatever OS you need.
