The best poker site is PokerStars because it's the greatest site, you can find there the kind of games you fit better and it's plenty of newbies like you

It depends, do you wan to deposit your own money, take a no deposit bonus, or play freerolls. Although, if i were you, i'd start at PokerStars playing 0.25$ 90 & 45 seater sit&go's. They are good, cause they are cheap and you can play them a lot, and if you follow the ABC rules, you should be even able to grow your bankroll. Hope it works out for you & see you at the tables

For a newbie it may be best to try one of the smaller ipoker offers, like poker770 or celeb poker. One sees who thinks work, can play on low stakes and has other rooms in the network for rakeback offers later.

Hi dtmagnum.
In my opinion, FullTiltPoker with rakeback. For micro levels and new players is the best opion. The other option is PS, of course. Don´t go into small sites, never a good idea for a newbei.

I started on Gear Poker, pretty easy site but no No Deposit Bonus. I'd also say Pokerstars for the many choices in games and levels. Full Tilt is too tough for beginners, I think. Otherwise it will depend on what kind of bonus you want.

Hi
I depends on what kind of game do you want to play? Cashgame? Tournaments? Single-table SNG's? - Like some people mentioned big playes like Full Tilt and Pokerstars offer every kind of poker games, but some smaller rooms are more suitable if you know what kind of game you prefer. Everest Poker is very good to play cashgame on. They are famous for being very fishy on lower cashgame stakes. On the ither hand if tournaments are your thing I would not sign-up at Full Tilt or Pokerstars. Tournaments at those sites are always very crowded (the smallest with around 600 players), which means a newbie stands almost zero chance of winning. Both sites does have a significant amount of larger SNG's of 45, 90 and 180 man SNG's, the latter only at Pokerstars. My opinion is that there is a lot of grinders on everything above 10 dollars buy-in. If you want to play below these stakes they should be good practice for tournaments though.
Ipoker which includes (Mansion, Titan, Betfred etc.) is very suited for a newbie wannabe tournament player. There are many smaller tournaments with around 200-350 players plus a lot of rebuy tournaments. I would definitly choose that option if I had to start over and only play tournaments as a newcomer.
I have played many Single-table SNG's on many different sites and it is hard to say which site is the best. If you like very slow progressing SNG's with lenghty blindlevels I would say the Cereus network (Absolute and Ultimate Bet) together with Everest Poker are very good alternatives. Be aware that the Cereus Network did have a major scandal a few years ago, although I myself find no problems playing there. The major places Full Tilt and Pokerstars especially the latter has the structure that suits me the most. It doesn't take forever to finish it and at the same time I can use my superiority against weaker impatient players with a tendency to play way to many marginal hands. Party Poker and to some extent PKRPoker are lets say more fast even if there SNG's are not marked with "Turbo". I can only assume there Turbo SNG's are even more luck bust than a regular Turbo SNG on other sites (never played turbo SNG's at any of those sites though).
I'm not a newbie anymore but i'm still a Donk. I started playing at various poker rooms but now i only deposit & play on Full Tilt. I like this room cos it's fun and u can play some good time with a few bucks.

Full Tilt Poker - limit sit&go's or matrix would be my suggestion! Another great poker room is Pokerstars - theres loads of tourneys and small buy in sit&gos for beginners

play at fulltilt s-n-g for few $ you can play all day, bonus, promotions(now is take2),fulltiltpoker academy(cav something learn and there are interactive kvizes),many freerolls, try
I have to vote everest poker. It has great MICRO limits. 0.02 omaha and holdem are a godsend on a small bankroll. They also have a huge number of incredibly small buy in sit and goes with very competitive rake.
They do not have the best multitable tournaments or freerolls. For that look to one of the bigger sites. One of the specific weaknesses is no stud based games and no low limit omaha hi/lo.
Its bonuses are also some of the best for new players, as the majority of them unlock as you play instead of lump sum at completion of the play through requirements. When i was starting it wouldn't be rare that i would get 50-75% of the way through completing the bonus criteria then hit a downswing and lose my entire bankroll and not get any of the benefit for the bonus I had unlocked.

bette choose big site like PS or FT, because you can find lots of tables there that suit you. in smaller sites you dont have much of choice and youre not strong enough to wait, so ypu start to play over your bankroll
