Is that a strategy?
Doesn't generally work anyway, because most serious players don't pay much attention to the chat until maybe the final table is my impression. At least I don't. And those it works on are fish or donkeys anyway.

Yes, very true. Good players don't distract themselves when they see trash talks... in brief trash talks does not really work in online poker, maybe in freerolls it might work against certain players...

Turn off chat . Getting into conflict with someone might end up with some bad read and losing big money/tourney! But when I happen to lose like 2-3 times to same person in tourney with some sick beats I might write something like ********* into chatbox and then turn chat off again right away

Theres only 1 thing iv noticed about those who chat away in the little box, its that the conversation always gets cut short and they come back in faint letters(Obs) trying to act big. Dont waste your time trash talking.

I like the change that most of iPoker software have made. Before that, all that people said appeared on screen. Now there is no way to make your comments visible on screen ... good! Chat sucks!

As far as you like... just know that if you are reported for abusing other player you'll get banned from the site. I have seen and read some VERY bad insults, some people think it gives you an edge when others are upset or angree... I'm not so sure? I've seen people cussing Americans just after the world trade centre was distroyed. This guy was typing "where have your towers gone".. and other thing like that. OK so its nothing personal but im sure it would hurt people very much... I dont know if he was banned but it did get a massive rise from the table. He also typed things like praise alla! and other insults aimed at Americans... Poor taste doesnt give you an edge IMO

The only thing that chat helps is to write a "nh" once in a while on a freeroll to someone with quads that eliminates a not-so likeable player.... But I've stumbled onto an unbelievable fellow on FTP, whose strategy was to give bad tips to the others on the table, saying that 8-9 for example has 70% versus K-K and how they should play aggressive these hands and such!!.... I usually dont' use to type in chatbox, cause I usually multitable 4 tables so I don't have time to chat (it is a problem for me even to take notes on other players) but I use to have a look at it to have some more informations on other players
IMHO: donks use to chat mainly than good players: so this is first infos I get from chat; donks use to say donk or similar accusations to other players;

Trashtalk i do rare, but sometimes i cant help it against special donk, who thinks, that he is already committed, when i raise standard and he limped in with QJ suited UTG and calls and draws in river. I dont use nasty words tho, try to be sarkastic
