I think the biggest problem is that French, Italian and English are so much primadonnas...
They somehow expect to win every game because they are valued so high..
Its sad 2 see all those players not willing to play for there country, look at the asian and south american teams they are playing for there country, but European players are playing for next pay check, and playing for national team does not give enough money... even if the French team, each member got 300,000 euros for playing like crap and they did not even bother to show up at practise.

yeah they should be expected to win every (most) games, even if they are playing just for money they're still world class players & its not as if the french just decided not to train their was reasoning behind it

European football players are not primadonnas.
Why?????
Because the most famous are getting old, and the stupid UE laws (bosman) that completely is killing our football. We have loads of bad extra comunitaire players, instead of investing in the kids.
I look to my country (portugal). Our championship is small, and we make the best selling players in europe, but instead of selling good portuguese players, we are selling brasilians and argentinians.
This is what is killing european football. If we dont invest in the formation, we are just helping Americans teams to make what they are doing right now.
We should not forget that American, Asian and African players are playing so hard to be invited to play in Europe. That's a great extra motivation. Many of them are already playing in Europe but plenty of them are still not. The fiasco of French and Italian teams can be also explained that they had many players who already have won the world championship. That doesn't increase the motivation.

+1 that the reason why germany play so good.the trainer had formed a young good team that will win and the players see his own mistake in the game and do not try to excused like the primadonna´s like was to hot,was to cold,bad referee, wrong shoes and so on And u can see the others country like ghana,usa,australia,japan and so on they are so hot to win and will fight to playing good football
