Living online poker  0
Friends, I play poker four years, and I wondered if someone could have an income just by playing poker.

I once got to have a good bank, but I think difficult to maintain. What would be the right strategy to maintain a regular basis?

Leave your experience here to help others.

Thanks

Yes, it's very possible to not only make a living from poker but to also become very comfortable.... however, only the very very top players make it this far and excel in this really difficult game, it doesnt come without a hell of a lot of time and effort, dedication, self discipline and i think more importantly than anything else is to just be in love with the game in itself, be passionate for it, and not with what comes from it...
I'm still learning and only in the last year have i started to become decently profitable, managing to build just under $2K bankroll from $15 freeroll winnings... but before this i have went broke a number of times, busted NDB 1 after another; even now, old habits die hard, i still have days where i tilt monkey and refuse to stop playing, still have those odd terrible sessions that erases a couple of solid +ve sessions and I'm sure my bankroll would be much greater if i could totally eliminate this... but the best piece of strategy advice i can give you is that you look at YOURSELF on a regular basis and analyze bluntly... and by that i dont mean just your game... Thumbs Up

Of course it's possible to make an income just by playing poker and you don't have to be a Dwan or an Ivey to have a comfortable lifestyle but of all the thousands maybe millions of wannabes very few are making a living from poker alone so be honest with yourself, keep playing for entertainment and don't give up the day job til you know you're at that level.

In online poker, the most important is LUCK.

Online poker is rigged, so you need lots of luck to make stady income from poker.

you need to get one of those lucky amulets. i had it once and i did win a lot, but i spended it all and then i started to lose. man who sold it to me, said the amulet needs to be reload and it will cost me another 56000 mogrsi, but im out of money right now

I think online it's not possible because they rake YOUR PLAY. Be honest how many time you start on a site with 100$ and after winning around a hundred you drop to 20$, win again and finally lost everything.Make another deposit and the wheel star again. I think it's possible live but not online.
too many odds again's you

It's possible to make a living playing poker, but probably only .01% of regular players are able to do this due to many factors like: How large is your bankroll? Do u have a family? can u commit 40+hrs a week playing. Can u survive a financial downturn? Are u profitable @ the high end of low stakes and medium stakes? Do u intend to play live tournaments?

yeah, its big thing with how much money you cant start to play poker!you need a lot of time to get something,if you start with just 50 or 100 $,or won by freerolls and then start to play!so for everything in life you need time and to be patience!its easy to people to start playing with example 10000 $ and then say they can live from that and they are profitable, just want to see them to start with 50,what will do!

I make about $10 a week. It's not much but it's an income. I made $6 tonight so now I'm gonna take 3 days off. Oh, the joys of being self-unemployed . . .

THIS is what I wanted to hear!
Especially: "So yeh its possible, just play TAG and with some brains its possible."

That's the biggy, as well as VERY tight bankrollmanagement.

Been playing 10 months now.
Never deposit money.
By building from nothing through the donk levels and up you learn the game, step by step.
NOT by depositing and playing beyond your knowledge at higher limits.

Started by playing freerolls and winning 5 cents etc.. Tough.
First $50 on FT from BRM taught me bankrollmanagement.
(I almost lost it all, to -$6 and then back up)
Now up around $800/900 and able to play some higher limits than before.

When I lose something like $20-25, I go back down to limits I can win for sure, and win it back.
That way I always have a bankroll that alows me to play comfortably (no worries) at the increasing levels. Sounds tough, but you'll never hear me whining about having lost too much money or my bankroll. So it actually feels great.
The most important thing IMO, is to grow within the confines of your aquired knowledge and skill, and have the discipline to go back if you need to.
It's even fun, because you realise that you are growing in the game at those times when you play lower limits again.

I don't play cash games yet (too much variance). Some Rush once in a while for fun.
I play tourneys to learn and have fun, and S&G's to get back any losses.

Still early days, but I like the direction this is going.

Hope this helps! Blink

Agree ;} but disagree with bonus clearing better stay at 1limit 1room ant using holdem manager you can bring a lot of info about players , then your game will be esier.

I started playing like 3 years ago, and the first year I cashed in 1 400 $. Left a few 100 $ in my NETelleracc. and started over.

The second year, I started experimenting with limitpoker, and playing more tables (up to then I only played 1). This second year, I cashed in: 1 400 $. Shock

This year, haft of the year has passed, and I'm up to like 900 $. I'm guessing, in december when I loot my NETelleracc., it will be about 1 400 $ + a few 100 $ to build the next roll.

I am sure I am getting better. Not fast, but I am. But I dunno why the profit doesn't rise.

I got three theories though:

1. I play less. Now I play only when I feel like it, while earlier I played long days, just to make sure I learned the game properly.

2. People are getting better.

Does anyone else feel that? Are the fishes getting eaten up, or am I just trying to blame my laziness at other things?

3. Beer.

Earlier I never touched it while playing, for respect of the cards. Now I think: I can do it anyway.

I can't.
Sad

Hi,in this Championship you see that everything is possible, you must have some rules and play strictly by that rules no exeptions, you must know to stop playing when you winns 100$ if your rule is to stop when you are 100$ winning for that day..... Thumbs Up Worship Dollar Worship

but i wonder how pros are able to finance there live with online poker. I mean, sure, they are the best. But this means, that the regs play against each others.... There are just no fishes for the sharks. Because i dont know persons who are able to loose stacks about 10.000. it seems strange to me that on the long term all pros make profit.
