Online Poker banned in South Africa  +1
WTF...Idiot decision.
Governments must think that online poker can be a good source of money for them on this time of economical crysis so why ban it when you too can make profits from it?
I can not understand this kind of decisions...

------------
I mean why don't they put some kind of taxes instead of banning it forever?Like when a player wants to cashout a very little percent of the sum he wants to cashout would go to tha state as an imposit or something.Maybe I am saying b******t here but I simply dont understand this decision.

Yes, it is strange.

Maybe they have discovered that a lot of money wanishes from SA, because they lose, or the rake eats them up? Are SA:n players lousy, or what? I can only remember meeting one, and he/she wasn't that bad.

Otherwise, I can't really understand why such a law would be nescesary? (spelling?)

i think the best way to get credit from online gambling on government level is to let the people play and if they earn some money let them to take it home cheap. Around 10% tax is a fair offer i suppose.

I don't think the poll was that nessecesary. Who, on a pokerforum, would vote _for_ such a decision? Except someone who just got busted because of the evil rigg, that is?

Yeah now that you said it I really think it wasn't necessary. There can't be anyone who agrees to that except for the ones who decided it.

Damn.i think there will be a time when almost all countries will be banned from playing online poker, question is just when that will happen. i don't think they should be banning these countries as some are making it as a profession.

Well, the truth is that I just heard this news and I think it's rather unfair,

because everyone has the right to play poker online,

and I disagree with the prohibition of online poker in South Africa,

so I hope that someday the world a little more fair for everyone.

Aww crap!

In Holland the government asked a committe for advise.
The advise was to legalise online poker.
Now poker is only allowed in casino's..... owned by the government.

You should care. This is the way a lot of countrys will go in the next years. And even if Finland isn't among them, the player pool will suffer.
