I deposited about $200 into my Full Tilt account about 2 weeks ago, playing my favioute game omaha high and low $2.25 a game , so im using bankroll management
ive been making a profit every day play alot of SnGs and some cash games 5c/10 games, but the last 3 days ive been on a bad run , ive been playing well but been getting a lot of bad beats, getting beat on 1 outtas etc.....
my last 10 games ive played ive only cashed out once, not being big headed but this is very poor by my standards, i can usally cash every 3 games i play at least, i have a very good win percentage in my SnGs, it may not be a very big down swing , it hasnt even hurt my bankroll at all as im using bankroll management and doing everthink by the book ive stopped playing poker for the day trying to get round my head on why the heck did they play that hand like that and then get lucky against me.......
this was nearly sending me on tilt..............
so i looked on the internet and found this which has helped me on this subject and can help you too
Well, as glamorous as the life of a poker pro may seem, it is not always rosy, even for the best. Everyone suffers from "bad beats", reaching the lows of luck and variance, even the pros and the high stakes players. Many pros will tell you about the very large losses they suffered, some of them getting ruined, temporarily or permanently leaving the game.
Fortunately, by understanding variance, by losing and learning to control your emotions at the table, you will be able to learn about variance without first going through a complete ruin.
Many players on the circuit know how to play poker well. For example, take two players in low limit, B1gfoot and Dozn01, who basically play the same way. They have both been playing for about two years and both know the basics of poker, they are able to make a small profit when they win their sessions. At the end of each month, B1gfoot is able to withdraw a few dollars to buy a nice gift for his fiancée. On the other hand Dozn01 cannot understand why he has no money on his account.
Only one of them is a victor in the long term! How does this happen?
B1gfoot and Dozn01 are able to win regular sessions, but Dozn01 is struggling to control his emotions when he loses while B1gfoot is disciplined and well trained in some emotional control techniques.
When B1gfoot suffers a bad beat or a downswing, he understands that it is simply the variance, he knows he will get much more in return at a later time. Sometimes he can just take a break or walk a bit to cool off. He limits his losses and can go to bed without getting disturbed if he lost a few dollars. His self-discipline and control make him save good money.
On the other hand, when Dozn01 catches a bad beat, he often goes "on tilt", gets angry, insulting his opponents and playing irresponsibly. When that happens, Dozn01 loses even more, exacerbating the problem. He ends up with big losing sessions and a massive headache, not understanding why it is so unlucky and why it always happens to him.
Every dollar that you do not lose is worth exactly the same amount as every dollar that you earn. Whenever B1gfoot and Dozn01 lose, B1gfoot wins money over to Dozn01. B1gfoot knows he has an excellent "self-control" and that his ability to withstand losses is higher than that of his opponents. This gives him an advantage over them, and poker is a game of exploiting small advantages. B1gfoot knows that his long-term ability to withstand losses increases his win ratio.
Tips to handle variance As crazy as it may seem, by learning how to lose, you will win money. Learn to control your emotions for better profits. Here are some tips to help you improve your discipline, your self-control, your mood and your emotional state:
Remember that "bad beats" happen to everyone, it is how you manage them that makes the difference between winning players and losing players. If you get frustrated, just take a break. Go walk a few minutes and recharge your batteries. It is better to return at the table with a clear mind than to let the situation deteriorate. Do not waste time chatting. Do not berate your opponents or comment on their game. All it will do is scare away the bad players and add to your frustration. If the chat of a player bothers you, just block him off. Do not pay attention to short-term results like the results of one single session. Analyze your profitability over the long term monthly or annually, rather than for short periods like sessions, days or weeks. If you have a problem with long sessions, then try to set a loss limit. Once you have lost a certain amount, quit the game for the day and try again another day. Do not drink alcohol (at least not excessively) while playing.
Good luck at the poker tables, and theres always another day to get your losses back in the long run

+1 Nice one dozny, things are exactly as you write 'em down... although I'm sure the reference to your name as a bad tilt example is completely for the purpose of understanding the differences... I believe that after a year or two into heavy playing, you and many people find some way to fight the tilt monster when variance strikes..
Fully understanding this mean lady is what separates the serious winning players from the hobbists and what makes you resist smashing your monitor
Oh, and you had me looking the "exacerbating" word in the dictionary!...

That's exactly how I felt when I was playing at full.

When I tilt the mouse hits the wall stopping me from tilting anymore.. Just messin, losing is part of the game and being able to controll your emotions is a skill not only for poker but for life. We all have things that make us snap, these things are uncontrollable, what is controllable is what we do when we snap, deep breaths...count to ten..scream and shout..puch a wall..its actually your choice. I posted a long while ago about how i reacted to tilt, basically I used to spit out the dummy and lose more, now I smile , im going to lose hands at some stage, if I find myself getting frustrated I leave the game, there are a million and one outher things I can go do. Its good you plan to use bankrollmanagment, but that does not controll tilt only varience. It seams like you are addressing a few things here, bankrollmanagment, self dissaplin, emotional controll and varience. GL doing it, im going to doubt you for reverse psychology and think you will fail. I bet you do it in this order...lose emotional controll after varience bites you, your self dissaplin will leave you as you tilt and break your bankrollmangement rules....prove me wrong..Im voting - I WILL CHECK YOUR SNG STATS IN A WEEK
BTW tell that site we want royalties GL
Edit...you posted this yesterday and have already failed... Try again, using bankrollmanagment.

I would not bet my money on plo8 sngs. More likley to plo8 cashgames. plo imo has most swings init, losing few sessions in a row is a regular thing.
I play plo8 in pkr sometimes when reg plo tables are full there and loads of players in the 100 and 50 cc there are well known names in pkr, but you still see them playing 100$ with preflop all in. And im not even going to say what goes on in 1/2 and 2/4 stakes . All it takes to be winner is good emotion control like you said Doz . -that and skill ofcourse lol.

You is right man... keep playing good, and learning new strategies to upgrade your mind and can bring back the win in the Sng Tournment... Dont care about the bad results, you just need to end the play day with profits..
