Why does players like Gus Hansen keep playing even when they are loosing. Gus has lost like a trillion on FTP but still plays guys like Patrick A. and looses even more. Why not do damage control and switch back to mix games and omaha h/l where he actually wins. When I am in a loosing streak I take a break and re-focus before starting again. Is Gus playing on drugs due to his injury - painkillers.....'

I was kind of thinking the same thing.
My guess is it has to do with "pride" mostly. He`s one of the world`s Top Holdem players, and I think it is difficult for him to admit that his game is not working anymore as it used to.
He`s also got a HUGE bankroll to back him up, thanks to his book sales (I read it, very good), and loads of other stuff like promotion and sales. So he`s probably got another Trillion to lose before he hits the wall.
If he keeps it up this way, he`ll probably hit it sometime...

Those of us who have a 9-5 approach the game pretty serious cause we usually got a lot riding on most games. Players like gus have mad sponsorships and can afford to play like this at times i guess. When you play for such big stakes it gives you alot more breathing room on those downswings. Just my insight not stating a fact.

Yes.. I do the same, when the loose hands be present I wait some days and if they dont go away, I stop playing for a few days and start again, with low stacks..
Gus is much more better while playing live, he plays solid poker most of the time in live tournaments or cash games as he has a big reputation to defend in front of this opponents and all the people watching on TV... unfortunately he's very addicted to online high stakes poker and it's where he's losing HUGE amount...

Its not easy to give up, when everybody is watching you. People expect you to be big pro and keep winning and you just cant go back. Your not anonymous guy from internet anymore. And offcourse he is still human and tilt, pride etc

good decision if u ll run on the loosing way u must go for short brake i ll do it also 1-2 weeks at this site there u loose becouse on the over poker site u at this time can easy play at the wining way so good luck all
i think its not only the pride that motivates him. hes a professional poker player so he needs to play cause hes makin a livin out of it. with all his commercial contracts and of course the pokersite hes workin with, he ll probably be backuped for the rest of his life. but remember: a quitter never wins, so why should he stop playin his favorite game?

when he loses like this he should go to break for a while. and start play the next week. but of course he has got money and tries to win back and goes on tilt. i think he should play live instead of online because he has got better play there.

It's hard to quit when you start losing. That self control thing can be hard to master. I guess that's what they call Tilt, and even the best players experience it, I don't care who you are.

Can't stop playing just because you get on a losing streak. Maybe for few days, if you need to cool down. If your still playing your type of poker then that's all you can do. The cards can come bad for a period of time sometimes. It has to get better. Maybe go down in stakes until things get back on track? He probably has plenty of money anyway.
Why does players like Gus Hansen keep playing even when they are loosing .... Because they are never broken: juste take a look at last two weeks FT stats. He won more than 600.000 both weeks
