I like to think I've seen it all. I've been playing for four years, I've won and lost thousands, been in every situation you can imagine. Now it's beginning to get old. I don't have the patience and the temperament to be successful at low stakes, and I don't have the bankroll to play at high stakes. I can feel the suckouts coming before they happen. I'm forgetting what made me love the game in the first place. I've tried to take a break, but the most I'll go without paying is two days. What do i do?

I know how you feel it is easy to get frustrated. You only have 2 choices though, either quit or learn to be patient and make that initial investment of time in order to build a bankroll that will allow you to play at higher stakes. I suggest maybe just playing tournaments exclusively accordng to your bankroll obviously. This might help detach you from the money aspect so maybe when you take a badbeat it won't feel so much like you lost money, just tournament chips. For me at least, it is somewhat easier to just play good poker in a tournament and let the cards fall as they may.

I know a littl bit the feeling u discribe. After 2years of grinding at PKR with good result the room did a 2.0 release which was completely UNplayable for me, so after trying to get used to it for weeks a gave up and left too Ongame network which is pretty decent but honestly not PKR. So didnt play much not many hours. Now playing multiple rooms 2/3hours a day not as much as before, chanched form DoNs to MTTs and very happy with it.

you clearly need a second hobby
I feel you, everybody will reach this point some day. Just take a real nice LONG break from poker, 2 days isnt enough. Some years ago i havent played like 6 months or something, because it was the same for me like it is for you now. No patience for micro levels and no bankroll for high stakes. At this point you are officially fucked. I have no other advice than taking a long break because I dont see any other chance. Right now you wont be able to generate profit at all, lack of patience and all the bad feelings.

You could give horse racing a go for a bit. Mainly because it's very analytical (like poker) and you don't have to wait hours for a tidy return (if any), even a three mile race is over fairly quickly and the buzz of having a fiver on a 20/1 shot that bolts in is mind blowing. I like to gamble so this works for me and to be honest I've won WAY more at horse racing than poker but after a while it bores me reading the form and I switch back to poker. My love for the game returns because I dont have to read any form. And then I get bored of poker... Vicious cycle?

Thanks alot to WhamBoozled and ChonkyWonk, you can tell these guys speak from experience and have been there themselves, that's all I wanted, the perspective of someone who's been there. Midnight1954, please go and find another post to spread your brand of idiocy through, I don't appreciate it at all.

man i know what ur going through last month when i would get ready to play i would get frustrated just sitting down at the computer but u know what helps more than anything...go play live or just get some friends over to play and u will see how much fun an excitment it is..you know there is nothing like flopping a set or the nuts and waiting to do that check raise or letting someone bet into u... once u get that feeling again u will start winning online but in all honesty if the fun is gone ur not gonna win u have to have that good feeling at the table and then u will get ur game back..but u have to take more than two day off ..u will see man u will get back into it and make a good comeback

Poker is like sex - you have much more fun, if youre not proffessional. If you get once a week from your wife, you be happy every time. If just bang-bang-bang every day, than soon enough you want to play over your bankroll - have threesome, roleplays, BDSM, toys etc. So to good is not good.
