As a tournament player I never play cash games , well sometimes I have a try if I am bored or reckless. I always wonder about the difference between cashgame players and tournament players, give me a 4 hour slog in a tourney or an stg anyday I think it is a much more intricate and ingrossing game with different tactics. When I sit down at a cashgame table its like walking into an elevator full of old men in long coats with there hands in there pockets and leers on there faces, I get that feeling you get when your walking down a dark lane in the winter and you feel the pressence of someone behind you even though you know theres nonone there, you know what I mean the hairs on the back of your kneck stand up and a cold sweat begins,,, lol,, the cashgame player is a pickpokect and a thief creeping round the table sniffing the air like some deranged beast,,,,,,,,,, and oh those starting hands they play,, what can I say,,, just as well the usual cash player is not coulour blind he or she would never see those fushes they are always trying for, lol,,,,,,,,,
what a cash player needs
1) low moral fibre 2) a thiefs mind 3) gamblers anomynous telephone number

Wish I could vote for both! Tourneys and cash are definitely different beasts, but you will find the same styles of players at both. One of the things I enjoy the most about MTT is when you finish at the top of a field of 100 or more players, you feel a sense of accomplishment, whereas after a successful cash session I will be pleased about my bankroll and a few individual hands. Which one I play will usually depend on how I am feeling at the time and how my day has been going poker-wise. GL!

I play cash games. I dont have patience for MTT's. I cant sit at tables for hours and wait for good cards.
Last week, my brother played $10.000 freeroll at 888poker. He finished in 5-th place of 1050 players, and earned $500, but he played for almost 6 hours??? I congratulate him, but it is too long game for me.
I would like to try cash games and maybe next year our government will allow us to play them. I usually play sitn'goes just because I don't have enough time to play MTT so cash games could be suitable to me. Or not ??

i need the adrenalin kick, which is in cash games present in every hand your playing, because it can cost you your whole stack. in tournys just the final table gets exciting when the blinds increase, but untill then its taking to long and to boring for me.

He he... Great thread! Well, I am mostly a cashplayer myself, and I sure didn't know I was that kind of an a-hole, until I read this. But hey, you learn something everyday!
Maybe, I should start playing more MTT:s and stuff, where everybody is your friend, noone wants to take your money, and when you walk down that dark cold lane, a copper meets you, swings his baton and says, "Nice to meetya, sir! Aint noone interested in mugging you in these parts of town. But watch out, cross the tracks, that's cashgamecountry!"

MTT is the most exicting way to play and sometimes u can win more in three hands in cash it just not as fun or challenging as winning a MTT when u hit first u do feel like u the man and thats what its all about it winnning and making it as fun as possible. cash players never talk and its so boring when playing cash

I (stupidly) play both.. I'm a classic Jack of All Trades - Master of None. In all things - this is how I roll..
I do know what you mean about the cash game.. And go on any poker forum and it's the cash game reg's - in particular HU cash regs - that have the bigs egos and weirdest personalities..
The MTT players are usually fairly polite, friendly, etc.. Cash players are mostly nut-jobs.. And whilst some are winners - I bet there's a LOT more degenerate gamblers playing cash than MTT/SNG.

Nice thread lol
There allways be a war between CASH players and tourney players, CASH say its the real poker and call tourneys flippements/donkaments.
I never play cash, dont like it, get too bored far too fast. Have great respect for good cash players. Most friends from me who play cash are in real live more gamblers, like more fast cars, like more expensiv gadgits, wants all to flip at, ''i say 100Euro i can jump over that, ect...'', things like that. Tourney players i know are more like ''wot will happen if i do this? Wot will happen when i do that?''
