This idea was given in the Chat Zone thread, about creating a #BankrollMob channel. I don´t know what BRM´s policy on this is, so please Admin, let us know.

I think it is a great idea, will be very hard to control though, in regards to what gets said in the chat. Rules are barely adhered to here in the forum so in chat??? Would be nice to have though.

Admin, thank you for the answer. Out of curiosity, how is the chat in the flash-based poker client here in the site monitored? Isn´t it the same principle?

thefodz, There are logs available for the chat. But the main difference is, you can only access that chat (and the pokertable) trough your Mob account, and then we have alot of information about the user and we can block the account if it turns out that somebody is using the chat to recruit our members for different sites. There's no tolerance toward such actions.

who still uses IRC? i used it a couple times a long long long time ago lol and i didnt use it for a chat.. so i dont really no what to say on that part but yae it would definatly be a huge chore to moderate it

But admin, maybe you can use irc but give out admin to some people that can take care of the channel, maybe the people with most post or the people u think would hande the channel good. dunno just an idea.
I would agree Mirc would be easy to moderate if you apoint ops to enforce the channel rules ..spam is not tolerated in irc - ~-= o No "Bots" are allowed on this server. =-~ - ~-= o No mass inviting, messaging or flooding. =-~ - ~-= o No idling or faking usernames. =-~ - ~-= o No Link Looking. =-~ - ~-= o Clients *MUST* respond to CTCP requests. =-~ - ~-= =-~ - ~-= --> Violation of the above will result in kills/klines. =-~ just a thought

hahah thats pretty good can i be the guy going around and 'resolving' the issues at hand and people who violate teh terms of agreement lol i think id do a pretty good job

But still - somebody joins the channel, spams a few lines of various pokerlinks with referral ID's on them, he (might) gets blocked. That's it, so now we're just down to 999,999 other people who works as affiliates (example figure) who will come and spam just once each, in our channel - not because they are allowed to, but because they CAN and our only weapon against them, is to block them AFTER they have spammed and got their message out.
Personally, I've been on alot of forums in my time, both danish and international ones, with LOTS of members. And I can't recall any of them having a successfull chat. One of them tried with an IRC channel, and it failed - always the same 3-6 guys sitting there and chatting and once in a while a troll would come and mess up things until he gets kicked by a moderator. My point is - there's SO many major forums out there (not related to our business) that goes on perfectly fine, without having a chat. And I think it's even more scarce with chats at forums in poker related communities, exaclty because it will require 1 moderator to watch over it 24 hours a day.
Bottom line - we are not intersted in a chat at the moment (at the MOMENT, not necessarily NEVER), and that's the final word in this case
Ok Admin I see your point ..I think some BRM users are looking for a place to have "off the record conversations" unlike here on the forums But its a closed subject now and there is no need for any one to violate the rules!

yea i can definatly see where the admin is coming from, it can only bring headaches and problems right now to the site there are others way we can talk if we wsih, (ie.. the chat zone thread that was created by thefodz, as well as at the poker table)
