Bankrollmobs collaboration with Amazon got me thinking that it has been a long time since i last read a book about poker, and it wasn't even very instructive (Chris Moneymakers book). I have heard that Sklanskys book and Doyle Brunsons book are good. Can anybody recommend other books

I was reading Berry Greenstein`s ace on the river and it was pretty good early on but than he has a lot of crap in the middle of the book. Like surveys and junk. Haven`t read the whole thing though. Starting reading Harrington on Holdem, its good, I recommend that book to tournament players.

These books are pretty much all out of date. Way behind the times. Only good books I would recommend are Bill Chen's one, and the new Harrington on Cash games are supposed to be good. SuperSystem is years out of date. Its like taking instructions from Romeo and Juliet on how to pull when your out for the night.
Edit: If you really want to improve, read internet poker forums, (not here, as the quality of advice isn't as good) and sign up for teaching websites. They will help your game a load!

It doesn't matter because super system 2 is still a great book and u still learn lots of stuff from it. Old school moves still work even do a lot of ppl have read the book it's hard for ppl to put u on a hand cuz how much u change gears. Brunson has one of the most simple but hard to play against tactics. He doesn't use them anymore cuz all the pros know about it but look at Dwan "Durrrr" he plays like old school Brunson and he is raping the high stakes tables. The point of poker is to disappoint the other player. Raising with s**t makes them think u have a good hand once they c 1 or 2 of ur bad hands u play only good hands and u'll c how much ppl will call u with weaker hands then usual. Then when they c 1 or 2 good hands u switch up again. Basically never let them put u on a hand, u always want them not to b able to guess ur hand. Poker is not about only winning hands when u have the best hand but winning hands with the losing hand also. It's all about winning the small pots not the big pots cuz a couple small pots are easiser to win then 1 big pot and it ends up to b the same amount won. CASH and TOURNAMENT are completely different games and most ppl don't understand that. "Ace on the River" has advanced skills and is more tournament book and "Super System 2" has both begginer and advaced skills and is great if u want to learn a new game like omaha, stud, razz, ect. SuperSystem 2 is a more complete poker book from 2-7Draw to NL Holdem and from Cash games to Tournament games. "Theory of Poker" is also a good book and "Mike Caro's Book of Tells" is an awesome book if u play live poker. Yes these books might b old but every book u read has different stuff in it that u can add to ur poker skills.
I used to read a lot of pokerbooks, like harrington on hold'm, super system, David Slansky's books, once found a megaupload file with like 75 e-pokerbooks icluding the ones above. The biggest problem is that they all say the same thing and it's just soooo boring reading them . I rather watch some coaching vid's and in-play commentary vids. It's more clearer and not as boring. I especially like the deuces cracked vids.
