Quitting online Poker?  0
I really don´t know what to do but I am really concidering Quitting online poker, I just don´t know what to do anymore, my bankroll is so close to $0.00 I have been playing poker for some years now (5years), mostly for "Fun" only playing low stakes, but I have still managed to build up my bankroll slowly to about $1000 - and now it´s ALL GONE, the past 6 months it just turned for me, only going down, it seems like no matter what I do, I just won´t win the hand, I can´t win a single hand, if i win a hand it´s just a few $ and trust me I will loose it again shortly - yesterday I got beaten 3 times on AA vs. JJ vs. QQ vs. 77 - 2 times on KK vs. ?? (can´t remember) and we always end up All-in pre-flop, today I got beaten on JJ vs. AQ and KQ (suit) vs. 68 all-in pre-flop! and alot of diffrent hands, I just can´t win no matter what I attend to do... so total loss in less than 24hours is $150 - and a few weeks ago i did the same thing on PKR lost $200 in less than 24hours - Right now I´m just feeling SICK, im so mad at meself, I just feel like crying - lol - So atm i´m quitting online poker for good, and only playing live tours. I can´t take it anymore - and I have to say, I have tried everything, normally im a TIGHT player, that didn´t help, turned into tight-agressive then loose-agressive, and so on been there done that, and nothing helps, I just keep loosing my money - and now I just had enough...

This is a very bad, but this things can happend, i lost 120$ in 20 minutes, but still want to play and i don`t think to quit because i have a lot to learn and i wanted this. One of my dreams is to qualify for some big live tournament!

Maybe You just not to go all-in preflop? Me too have spend many money on Short Stack Strategy in Cash games, and i consideret not to go all-in if my stack is smaller than my enemy stack...

Wow..thats something. The thing i do is always good bankroll management. Have you read Chris Ferguson story? He had to drop to low limits because he lost some money. I was in a bad spot for a month or so..I just stopped playing, read some poker books, watched a lot of poker videos and slowly got back into poker.

i think my problem was not enough sleep, not enough exercise. Who knows, you might just be on a streak of bad luck..and if so, than you got to drop to lower limits. Like never buy in a table for more than 5% of your bankroll, is that the rule? I don`t know cause I only play Sit and Gos.

Well I have tried to go up in limits to get rid of all the fish, but it just seems like there´s alot more fish in $0.25-$0.50 - $0.50-$1 -I know I have to becareful going all-in pre-flop and I really do watch out for it, but if I have AA offcourse i make a raise and if a guy goes all-in on me, well we all know we have to call that I have NEVER and will NEVER fold AA pre-flop, and if a "bully" is presentet at the table I am really careful about that, and if i finally get and good hand and I try to make a move, the guy will always make a bad move on you, if I know I have a better hand pre-flop I will call him for sure, but the thing bad players/ bad plays always seems to get lucky. Everytime I try to make a move like that i will get busted 100% of the times for sure.

I have read books, I see alot of poker om TV, I always try to get new information, to improve my game - poker takes a life-time to master I know that, you can always learn something new, ALWAYS.

But theese months no matter what i do I get busted.

i have that that feeling every day mate the thing is that if you quit your cutting your nose off to spite your face i mean if you play everyday why not have a break for just a couple of weeks and then when you return to the tables you will feel fresh and have that killer edge in you again i find that that works for me as if i play everyday i seem to get drawn into to many hands and pots which i wouldnt have played if i hadnt played for a while so try this and see if it works if not you can always still quit
lo

I do know that such will come now and then, but hey it has been going on for 6 months now, I haven´t been able to go up in bankroll only down, and especially the last coupple of days it has been really bad Aww crap! - so my decision is to keep of poker for at least a month, and then try to return, in the mean time I will only play live tours.

Ahh ok, maby I will play the last $10 i have at Party...

The variance in poker can be devasting...believe me i've had some brutal downswings where 80-20 chances turn into 20-80 Sad
The longest I've tried was small 2 weeks where it was totally impossible to win and I know the feeling......when you normally/regurlarly beat a level and suddenly it's impossible even though you do the right thing over and over again. Sadly there is nothing to do about it it but play more and hope for the best or simply quit online poker(but it will happen to you live sooner or later, can't run away from Mr Variance he get's everybody).
I hope you have the stamina to get over Mr Variance cause it will turn around...only a question of time (end of year the winning players has the money, not lucky players).
I know it does not help your situation, but perhaps it could comfort you to know that I lost 150 Dollar in under 15 min yesterday when I called fish who wen't all in on flop with openend all 3 times they got it Sad I had top pair with A kicker all 3 times and third time with an inside str8 too.
Hope your luck will change for the better, greatings from CPH Cool

PS. I just read your last post if it's over 6 months you should evaluate your game. Perhaps get pokertracker so you can spot the problem easier or at least have proof for your self that you did the right thing.

Play SnG stay away from Ring games. And try to split your bankroll to at least 10 times buyin, ofcourse $10 is not enough so play lowest possible, and FOLD is also something you can do dont go all in with A-A if theres more than two or even two players already allin. Big possibility that one of them is holding single A and other is holding K-K and if third guy is not holding K he has bigger chance of hiting flop but i guess you already know that. there is some video where Doyle Brunson folds Q-Q made set on the flop against K-K also made set on the flop. Sometimes you just have to fold them not go stupidly all in and lose all your money its not last hand played on earth. Another thing is if you have tight players on the table try to slow play that A-A, that way you can bluff a guy that you dont have a set but just a pair and if he hits his set and you too than youre into money or if he has A-K and he flops that A-K he will go allin. But only on tight tables if people are playing loose than best possible way is to play it strong you can try slow play but usually it gets beaten by some gutshot draw, 2 pairs or something like that. Dont quit playing just take it slow, i only lose money if beat myself with poor play either because i dont hit a flop or get good cards for long time, than i start playing crappier cards and even total crap (that really can put me to tilt) just to see if i would hit it with 7-2o. If you play with bunch of donkeys use it against them but read their cards carefully before you make a raise on the river. 4 players calling with gutshot straight calling 2 or 3x BB produce more money in the pot then one guy calling your allin and maybe someone gets his 2nd pair on your set and even raise you, ofcourse it is more risky too.

I have had a few 10 buy in down swings at .50/1. That would be -$1000 dollars an like 2 days. Didn't bother me cos I was properly rolled. I'm sure there's a moral in that story somewhere.

i know what its like when the cards just crush you, i can handle losing hands when im the %70 favourite but i just cant handle when that happens 9 out of ten times. i usually withdraw once i see a downswing coming and move on to a new site and new competition, i find i play better when i have a smaller bankroll at a site, and as it grows my profits decrease.

i dont know how to explain this when often i will play the same limits i started at, but oh well

If you feel that your having he downswing then why not just wait for it to be over with? Instead of quitting why not have a vacation from poker so when you get back, you're back in fresh and probably eager to play again, it will help you in your concentration. however, if you really feel that it's enough then it's you call to fold. Thumbs Up

haha yea im sure he wont quit and if he does he will be back its hard for someone whos been playin for 5 years to quit and stay away im sure he was playin cuz its fun to play (and obviously to make money) but i mean you to play to make money and thats the only reason so

I sometimes feel the same way. When I get burn out from playing too much poker , I will quit playing for a few weeks . I usually play better after a little break. I dont deposit any money that I cant afford to lose. I just look at it as I can go out to the bar tonight or I can play some poker.

Yeah thats the spirit... Play The MOney we can afford...

Becouse playing when you HAVE to WIN is not a good idea... i see people who cries after a poker tourney becouse they needed the money and thats not good.

Sometimes i think the poker room is playing against me but i just try to forget about this and play my game, focus is the word
