hi everyone Smile

i was in a tourney yesterday and this hand is being doing my head in all night
this is what happend i was playing for 4 hours 3 players left including myself
picture below ....
the main reason i called was because that player had already gone all in 5 times on the trot the other player was tight also i had a good hand and they couldnt have a top hand every time,
they were bullying the table as they were chip leader
but thinking now it was a risk because i snaped call this when the blinds wernt that high,
yes i made a correct call two over cards but was it worth it at the time of the blinds
small blind $4000 big blind $8000 antes $800 my stack $144,803.32,

could i of waited for a better moment to call?
i took a gamble and it failed leave or die by the ace king,

oh well its didnt payoff but i ended winning a few quid, we live and we learn ,
see you soon for new posts my friends

the tourney was a $3 $1000 GP freezeout 400 players

What kind of tourney was it? If a freeroll or micro-buyin call with AK is a must. Most of the times you will be ahead.

it was a $3+ 40 buying in, i knew it was gonna be a coin flip,
but was it too early to do a call like this is all what am saying Smile
only saying this cause i lost Blink

yeah, 3 players left AK is an absolute monster, def gc imo.

There is no way you could fold AK after his shove. He risked too much shoving a weak pair. If it was me i would never force so much 33 after a big re raise, anyway thats poker.

I think you will remember me posting a similar thread in a similar position with the same hand the only difference being my opponent had 88 ,anyway snap decision by me ,, GOOD CALL,, bad result, lol

Definately shove. The difference between 2nd and 3rd place is too small to wait for better hands. He could have an easily dominated hand.

well i mean it is 3-handed and you tell us they were kind of loose.
I guess 3-handed he has such a white range as:
any pocket pair 22-QQ were you have at least 50%
of course a monster like Kings or Aces but... i mean... you know Blink
Any broadways even like TJs or KQo and any Ace were you have two higher cards or maybe even dominate him. You must call there as you beat his range imo!

Allways try to play EV+, so deffo call his allin. Outcome is bad but that doesnt mean its bad played.

Well played just unlucky, standard call.

definite call in my book, I played for 4 3/4 hours in a tourney last night and the highest hand I was dealt was JJ and that was only once, patience is the byword...another day another dollar, as they say, a week ago I was dealt 5 consecutive pairs AA, QQ, KK, KK, TT, needless to say only 3 of the five stood up to crazies going all- in with shite, but that is poker, swings and roundabouts, think long term, all will be ok if you continue to make the right decisions, whatever the outcome...

It was a good bet on your part. Nothing to lose sleep over. Half the time, AK comes through(it just worked for me against a caller with 45, held up as high card ace) and half the time it sends you to the rail. It is one of the premium hands. Congrats for 3rd place.

even if i am always in favor to wait a little bit, at this spot you can never fold, 3 handed, 1 aggro donk, play to win, take the spot, and you have also a good chance that he would have had Ax, so it was even better than a coinflip. next time, you get it, and you will be in a huge cheap lead

At some point in ever tournament you have to take a 50 50 chance. When you are 3 handed a pair is big and so is a big ace. either hand would have had to be played in that situation. Cashing is allmost all skill but winning takes some luck

I would call with the AK. You were in third place, three handed and the smallest of the stacks, a little unlucky that's all. He could easily have been pushing with AQ/AJ. Next time! Blink

It wasn't a bad call. The only thing I would consider was that u were not in blind trouble, but this was a rpeflop decision. Post flop, easy fold
