Site Comparisons  +1
After 6 years of cash games (mostly ring games and MTT's) and freerolls on Bet365 I decided it was time for a change and have just spent nearly a month on Party Poker. The difference in the standard of play surprised me greatly, no slanging matches in the chatbox, people courteously praising each others prowess and all-round feelgood vibes about the structure of the site & the software. This morning I embarked upon my venture into the world of Fulltilt and signed up for the freeroll leaderboard through BRM, thereby enlarging my expectation portfolio. I must say that the software was easy to grasp, the layout of the site was easy to navigate and the player menus a doddle for a microsoft windows troubleshooter of 11 years experience.
I have a plan of attack and have made a conscious decision to vary my style of play according to the nuances of others' behaviour, with a modicum of luck and dogged and determined application to the job in hand I feel that I can can definitely emerge victorious by the end of this month. Thanks to all who read this and good luck to all of you at the tables.
One more thing before I sign off, "BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH"
Cool

yeah i noticed that too i prob did a thread on this Blink

you have to change the way you play on every different poker site,
different tactics, full tilts pretty bad for slagging, off in the chat thou plenty of poor players there,
my short stay at party poker was pretty good,
loads of loose players calling your 3 bet with poor cards,
ipoker play is probly the tightest site for players in cash game they respect you raisers,
good luck at party poker thou
see you soon for new posts
Smile

Yep, every site has a different style of players, and different habitts.
I get the impression players "grow" to each other when they remain on a site for a long time.

From what I´ve played, my favourites are Full Tilt and Party.
People are usually friendly enough.
(don´t include the recent freerolls, although I´ve met a lot of nice people there in the last month, and had some great chats, often being bored as hell due to the lenght of the tounaments)

I prefer Full Tilt because of the Poker Savvy (a lot of Americans), and they don´t congratulate you when you get lucky, but when you play a hand well (mostly my experience).
( I hate the "nh" thing when you went in second, but got lucky)
Party as well, but it depends on the game.

Sites like Everest...pffff
I´m playing only to get Holdem Manager, but they take themselves SOOO seriously, while their play is mediocre to say the least.
Too bad, I prefer intelligence at the table.

Pokerstars is so big, it varies greatly, no way to comment on that.
But I don´t play there right now.
Will probably go back though.

Bwin is originally a gambling site, and it shows, except for the Tournaments organised for a specific country. (belgians are fun to play with in general)

Noble is just strange, I don´t like it.

And the rest... I haven´t played for a long time or don´t know.
That´s my take. Blink

first played online on stars..not bad but it's tough. too many types of players..had a hard time adjusting. or maybe because it was my first taste of online play.

really loving party. although i haven't made much, at least i've been going deep in tournaments, which is what i aim for always.i'm leaning more towards tournament play instead of ring games at the moment Smile

At the moment I am playing on three sites simultaneously, part poker, full tilt and players only and have found ft to be the most user-friendly, party to make the most profit and as for players only, it is very basic, very few freerolls and full of septic tanks which gets up my proboscis a smidgen...

heh. I'm always giving PKR a little plug on threads like this.. I always come back to PKR and 90%+ of my poker playing is throgh PKR..

WHY? Well - I enjoy the feel of it, the so called 'immersion' I suppose you would call it.. Plus the community @ PKR is second to none IMHO - the forums etc are very friendly and there's a lot of table chat etc when playing as well. Just makes for a more fun game.. Definitely not for the serious grinders. And the MTT fields are relatively small - even the freerolls are generally under 1000 :O - I prefer small field MTTs - most PKR MTTs you'll be ITM within 2hrs.. Maybe 3hr on the longer ones.

You'll either love it or hate it - but if you've never tried before - it's well worth having a go.

Nice thread with excellent replies. Very informitive for the beginner like myself. Deeply appreciate BRM having me as a member. Have learned a lot VIA BRM.

Also, I've only played on two sites FT & PS. My problem with PS is being familiar with their settings. Guess more time searchinmg / reading will help me learn.

Wow 6 years on Ipoker client.... I would cut my arm off....
If you're "free" now just try other softwares for yourself.
I know a lot of people hating rooms like Stars and FTP and other loving them.
You just need to check out for yourself. Easiest way.

OK Jess I will give it a whirl, downloaded hero software last night and it seems one of my clients uses the same software and you can't have 2 versions of the same client running simultaneously, what's the crack with that then?

I am back on PKR too! And very satisfied with it! Day before yesterday I finished 4th out of 600 on 2$ tourney and yesterday finished first on Tiny piramid (or something like that)...
Jess you can add me as a friend on PKR if you want... My screen name is Tortikolis... Im already friend with doomdy but Im not sure does he knows that it is me...
Think I will play lot of poker on PKR from now on...
Did you consider to buy your face ror 15000 points... I think that is pretty cool and think Im gonna buy it since it is not too expensive (15 000 points is something like 9$)
