And Kaboom ! Busto again (nearly)
After over $2200 in cashes for March.. After many a scotch & X-files episode last night my old vice (HU nl600 @ 3am) saw to it that I busted my roll down to $300 in as little as an hour..
Worst part is the last pot I lost was $700 contributed each - I got my chips in on a set and they hit their set (overpair) on the river AFTER chips had gone in and with that I was down to $300
So now gotta build back up from $300 *sigh*
I seriously gotta lay off the booze & cash tables

oh jess i feel your pain. ive still not recovered really from my last boom and bust situation except i came 2nd in a tourney for $400 then hit the $2/4 cash built that up to 5k over 10/14 days then found my old friend jack daniels and it all went wrong lost 3k that night then the next day depressed from the night before tried to win it back hung over and still tilting and the rest dwindled away i was so gutted and been on a rocky road ever since. from that time all my stats have went to s**t its bloody painfull (dont think you have hit this and i dont think you will). All the same i will get it together soon and return to the $2/4 cash as i loved the play there and it made me play good because you know your playing good players well alot anyway, funny thing is $2/4 cash is the only place im in the black the rest of cash/tourneys/sng all heavy in the red now . Im sure you will pull it together in the tourneys seems your running pretty hot in them just now but i know your pain with a tough night at the cash games just dont tilt tomorrow

Ouch, and u started your sunday so well! Big pot to lose, those u will remember. Try to relax and when u start playing again, u be sure this hand and this day are forgotten. Otherwise u''ll try to get back to the point u were before asap, wich possibly isen't the best state of mind on the cashtables. Forget about the booze while your on the cashtables, not the best mix Taste's better after, while celebrating

I do this ALL THE TIME..
And yes, relaxing before I play again is definitely a must.. Otherwise I could easily tilt to zero.. The real test here is to actually stick to lower buyin games until I can build back up a little..At least it's generally pretty easy to FT $5 buyin MTTs.. Just so much effort for so little reward lol. *sigh*
Lately though (last few months) I've been pretty good in not destroying my roll all the way to literally $0.00 - which is what I usually do. These days I normally just bust down to $50-$200 and then build back up.. Which means I'm slowly getting better with my discipline..

at least roller coasters are fun
I don't worry about it too much. I would HONESTLY not like to be a poker pro.. I'd feel like I was contributing NOTHING to society.. and that is something that is very important to me.

Next time you gonna play big, go straight to nl1000. Ive done the opposite there, turned 300 to 2k lol. But that was years ago.. now I stick with plo and 100nl max. But I can say that when being drunk, no matter the limit, theres always chance to bust your br

Ah, sh*t!
I feel your pain, man...
I drunkplayed some this weekend too. I played quite well, actually, but was really unlucky, flopping two pairs with the willian getting his set on the river, and so forth. But I placed in the pokerroomschooltournament at WH and got a tenner back. I haven't yet logged in at the place where I lost on saturday, so I do not know how big the damage is. But I would imagine it is around 30 $.

Damn Jess!
You might be surprised, but during the last week, the fact that you were $2.000 up was really motivating me. I started playing the game I like (deepstack) yesterday, and came in 11th. I´ve been telling the girl (friend) i live with about how well you were doing, and that it was motivating me to move on and up. Really!
I should give you a good spanking now!
You were so stoked this weekend. Ok, I´m thinking....
Maybe you can try this: Put some cash, like $200-300 (or whatever) on a site that you don´t regularly play. Whenever you´re hitting the Jack , you tell yourself that´s your "Jack-playing" site and stick to that. Blow it all, whatever, but stay off your main site. Make a habit of this and pump that into your skull.
How about that one. Can you do it? If you can´t do it for yourself...can you do it for me?

@IslandJack - up until I spazzed out last night - I was playing reasonably well within some kind of BRM - which I believe you're able to do.. So don't let my drunken 3am spazz out de-motivate you ! Stick at it man !
I'll keep you posted on my bounce back
Nice idea - but the thing is it comes down to my personality.. when i feel like spazzing out... I want it to hurt you know lol.. I'd play on whatever site had the $$ at.

I feel for you Jess. I have played while having a drink and have busted my roll too, and finally have the control to stop when I see that A) I have been drinking B) I am playing poker and C) I am backsliding. Even if you don't want to be pro, to work hard at building a roll and than lose it that way can be hard on the morale. GL and I know that you will be back.

Couldn't imagine doing that and keeping a good attitude. Of course to chicken to play at that level, at least at this point. Do enjoy reading about how people fare over the weekend, but like hearingabout the big wins. Good Luck and Good Day!

No worries Jess, just wanted to give it a shot. But I understand what you mean. When you´re going "Destructo!"... no kind of trick we can think of will hold you back. It´s gonna have to be you buddy...

small update:
A couple minor cashes last night.. Thought I was going to go deeper in both these games, as had become CL in both with around 20 to go... However, a few sick hands in each left me with around 10bb in both games, on each table I actually ran a small-medium pp into AA, both times folded to me in sb and shoved into bb's AA :O pretty sick.. Ran 99 into AA on HMS Deep Stack and 77 into AA on Wellbets homegame.. So disappointing result in each..
Luckily both games I managed to satellite into for around $3. Spent around $50 on other games I didn't cash in also..
Boosted the roll a little bit (after deducting entry fees of course). Also about $15 from nl25 for the day.
Well, I'll put updates here again in 24hrs, maybe I can make a comeback and inspire you again IslandJack - I appreciate that you followed my results in the first place.
If anyones interested in following my MTT results... I blocked my sharkscope ages ago.. But if you look me up on PKR - jessthehuman - my profile is set to public for my MTT results so you can check there.

Jess I think you really need to solve that gambling problem. That is pretty bad habit for poker player... I tried earlier to check your profile but it is not public! And still waiting for you friend request
