What are the Suit Rankings for Hold Em?

This question is really starting to bother me know. I always thought it was Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, the order you get when you open a brand new deck. But, you never really need suit ranking in Hold Em, so I never really thought about it too much.

I have tried googling this question several times before, and I get a bunch of crap, from a bunch of unknown sites.

Was discussing this with a friend, and now its really bothering me. This is the best info I can get from Google, but there's nothing to say this site has any authority on this subject:

Rank of Suits

In holdem there is no rank of suits. The only time that a rank of suits will affect a holdem player is when players draw for seats or during a chip race. It is used in some other poker games, mostly in games where tied hands and split pots would lead to complicated results. When using the rank of suits, the actual rank of the card (Ace, Seven, Queen, etc.) is still the main factor. It is only in cases where two cards have the same rank when the suits are compared.

The rank of suits is, from highest to lowest:

1. Spade
2. Heart
3. Diamond
4. Club

I cannot find any site with better authority on the subject. Probably because like they say, there are no suit rankings in Hold Em.

But this is my problem, suit rankings definitely come in to play in drawing for seat order, and when sites and rooms/casinos are running promotions involving high hands.

In drawing for seats, in every Hold Em tournament I ever played in, in card room and casinos, the Ace of Spades is the best card to get, and you automatically are awarded the button. I dont remember how seats have been decided in the event of tied high cards, except for Spades always wins.

So, if anyone knows the correct answer to this question, and can site a legitimate source, please do so.

I couldn't find any better sources, although I hope you'll get an answer.

In Hold'em there are no rank of suits. You can't make a flush in two different suits, and thats it. The other situations can be dealt with cards from one suit.

I was wondering same few times. For holdem it is pretty much irrelevant nut in draw or stud?
It can happened in Draw that both players have same str8 flush for example. It is rare for sure but Im sure those things happens.
So if you have 5 Heart 6 Heart 7 Heart 8 Heart 9 Heart and other guy have 5 Club 6 Club 7 Club 8 Club 9 Club
who wins?

Ohh crap I forget...OK the suits represent kings from diffrent places eg france england ETC...there were actually 5 suits to start with but was knocked down to 4.
Also poker firtly had only 20 cards!!
But your current order is correct, however could not point you to any site etc that coul confirm it, just some crap I know.
The As represents a tax and there for bbecome top trump...Im a bit hazy on how it all went or became as there are lots of diffrent stories, and I belive depending onm were you live then the rank may possably be diffrent, but ni generall its as you said.

As stated in hold'em it doesn't exist, but based on information that was passed on verbally by an old man who played for 40+ years Heart is at the top of the list. Now, since you've brought this to my attention I want to verify. I've always believed him, but now it's in question! You got us thinking CoddBrunson!

All the local pub games I've played in Australia have just re-drawn for seat order etc if both people draw the same high card (Ace, K,etc). Although I suppose the ranked suit way of doing it would be more correct than re-drawing.

As far as i know your current ranking is right.
And in hold em and omaha, 2 differen't suit's straightflushes isen't possible.
Cool

In 7 card Stud it would be a push. Suits may only matter to figure out who has to do the bring in there.
