OMG - I guess I hate JJ  0
It seems to me that JJ is the hand I lost the most money with so far.
On the one hand I find it very difficult to play when overcards are on the flop, on the other hand, when there is no overcard I keep betting and nearly loose all hands on the river.

Can anybody give me good advice how to play JJ best way Confused

Raise up preflop, make a c-bet at the flop, if it isn't to ugly. Don't get to involved unimproved. We don't need to play for stacks every hand.

Probably not good enough to provide advice and I have folded JJ many times. If your not going to play donk and gamble going allin and hope to steal the blinds then, hopefully there are no over cards on the flop. If there are overcards I check it through (probably very disagreeable to most). After turn I make a good raise, based on turn card. Hopefully no callers. If no overcards on flop and no straight or flush I also will make a big raise. Probably a very argueable approach, but it's my method and I've lost also. Good Luck with the JJ and to All!

I lost JJ so many times, sheesh... Now i started to play JJ as if it was 77, same goes for my QQ. I just raise x3 blinds if theres nobody in the hand before me. If someone join the hand i just limp it and play it from the flop. If someone make a big raise, it depends on the player. If he is tight i fold, if he is lose and its only me and him i would just make a call and play it from the flop also. Dont need to say that its a easy fold against tight players if overcards on the flop. Dont get to involved with JJ, its not a biggie more like easy fold

Yes as soon as I have read this post (1st) I remembered the video in 2nd post Big Smile thats is the way you should play JJ - do not Big Smile but I think JJ is good hand and it makes profit .

Thanks to all for your answers.
So I will try to play it more careful in future and hopefully will turn it into a profitable hand.
Because this is the main fact that bothers me, that it is one of the best starting hands an I loose money with it instead of winning money Angry

I love all pocket pairs because they have the possibility to become a very strong hand if you flop a set. Obviously AA and KK are monsters and should be played accordingly, QQ is very strong but will often be called preflop by AK with the possibility of hitting. JJ is a nice hand to have, will sometimes win unimproved but is to be played with some caution when overcards appear. Like shokaku said, you don't need to be playing for stacks every hand. GL!

JJ is a great hand and very strong.. But you have to play it properly.. It's a tricky hand to play.

I get burned on JJ all the time. I have decided now that it is an all in hand if I am in the remaining 5% of players (blinds are large and people don't stay in as often) or I will do a 3X BB bet and if A,K, or Q show up on flop, and more than 1 person stayed on my raise, I will fold. That has limited my getting burned with them.

Who doesn't hate Jacks? Aww crap! They are as usefull as twos with a board full of overs. I will sometimies fold them pre flop depending on my position, how deep in a tourney, or close to the money I am. They are definately one of the trickiest hold em hands to play! Cool

Did I mentioned that I hate JJ ?
Just busted out from 2 tournaments within 2 minutes.
The first I went against JJ trying to steal blind with a king.
The other I had JJ and a flop with 499 the guy before me raised and I went AI.
He found a Q on the river for his Q in hand and thats it... Aww crap!

I used to love JJ. But after losing a few good hands of late, I play them very carefully now.

I tend to play Js like any other small-medium PP.. Position is also very important with Js.

i am starting to think that as far as free rolls go for the first half hour or so my fav hand might be k2os or k3os .... cause I keep losing chips to those creepy hands ... q6 seems to work too lol

As far as JJ ... poker is like sex ... it'a all about position, position, position Big Smile

I hate JJ in cash games 'couse if you get involved you can loose a lot of money.

But in MTT it's a whole different story.

Still - I don't go All-in with JJ.

Playing cash games 100bb + You certainly have to be smart with JJ.

With MTT there is an incredible amount of variables.. I mean - for example - if you're short stack (8bb left) and you're in late position and there's to limpers before you and no raises - then JJ is like fucking christmas - you thank the poker gods and shove that s**t out of it.. But on the other hand.. if you got like 80bb and you're in EP/UTG then it's a whole other story.. you just kinda stare at it angrily..
