Had a really close call this morning at NL200. Sitting in the small blind with 99, normally aggro player UTG limps in, which set off all kinds of alarms in my head, a player two positions over raises to 3.5bb, so I call, so does bb, and then UTG reraises to 16bb, called by the first raiser at which point I folded. I was kicking myself when I saw the flop, but felt much better after the hand was over. Trips 3 ways! Pocket aces a few hands later held up which was even better! GL all!

Oh wow, at the end of the day it was a good fold. But I guess me personally would never have called this, because I would have been to scared about higher pocket pairs with these raises.

i guess at first when you saw the flop your eyes should have the same look as your avatar but then all changed. if you were in that flop you would have lost everything. its times like that when first i sweat to the raiser and then thank him for it lol

Playing low pocket pairs against monsters has its ups and downs, because if you snag trips on the flop you will likely destack your opponent. However because they are also unlikely to lay them down, the possibility of them drawing out against you on the turn or river certainly exists.

Good fold.
What you said about your 99 is true... The guy with KK has running K on river and I guess that JJ build the stack (and you would help him if u would be in probably).
I wonder if KK gou would fold pre-flop or on turn. Flop J97 looks scary anyway

I have wondered what would have happened if I stayed in for some reason. JJ only had $40 after the flop, so KK with his overpair simply went all-in and was snap called by JJ, but I was full stack so if I reraised would he have then put me on JJ and folded or shoved? My thinking is that based on the flop he was going to play the hand strongly and he would have shoved on me too. I had him from his first limp on monsters and for the other guy to call 16bb reraise I felt I was too far behind to call and pull this one out.

Good fold mahdrof! This is one thing I need to grow and learn more about! Knowing when to fold a good hand based on how the opponent is playing is a significant part of learning all aspects to the game. Enjoyed the post! Helps me think about this when confronted at the table! Good Luck to All!

a good fold indeed but honestly spoken , the best thing that could have happened to you was the reraise preflop from UTG othersides you probably would have called any raise or all in after seeing the flop .

Green, that games is NL 200 so every action there have sense and every player know what he is doing. You can expect to make great lay downs at NL2,5,10. When you make them most of the time you will be wrong NL200 is different world! Every move there is planed and based on other players. Things have sense there. In micro stakes people dont pay attention and they will go all in with top pair or two pairs and they will limp with 27 off. Thats why you cant expect ever to make great folds on micros

Look at it this way, JJ was sure to raise which is what UTG with KK was looking for, in order to reraise, otherwise KK was facing three other players - far from optimal for big pockets. If no JJ, flat calls all around and flop comes down J-9-7, KK bets out and gets reraised by a flat caller, at some point in the hand he might fold thinking even with KK he is behind.
On aggressive tables I will sometimes limp monsters too, looking for a raise in order to shove a nice reraise. But if everybody flat calls all around, I have to play cautiously and not get involved in any big hands unless I have hit the board too.
Jovi, the amount of donks at NL200 drops off, but you would be surprised! Look at Tom Dwan and the donk hands he plays and kills with sometimes! For some unexplained reason poker instinct this morning told me to call 5.5bb with 2-4s, flopped trip twos, quads on the turn and demolished someone with much better cards. Pure donk hand, and not my normal style of play, but when donk cards hit it is very tough to spot.

888 used to be known as Pacific Poker. I am still running their slightly older software, the newer one looks different and has different avatars. 888 is where I first started to play poker online, and although their software a couple of years ago was very buggy, it works fine now with no problems. GL!
