Mythical Merged Stacks Become A Reality At Fulltilt  0
Full tilt began hosting multi-entry tournaments a few months ago. While many people have made use of this new tournament format, the mythical “merged-stack” had not been witnessed. In order to merge stacks a player would have to get both of the entries at the final table, as they are kept separated throughout the tournament. One player pulled it off.
Tuesday morning in the $1k Monday $2,000,000 Guarantee Tournament, Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers landed himself at the final table with two entries; one in first place the other in second at the final table. The tournament was paused briefly to allow two stacks to be merged. One entry was eliminated and won a hefty $28,848 in 9th postion, while Sowers was still able to play with the chips.
Even though sowers, had already wrote history, he went on to win the tournament in 1st and won another hefty $490,296 to add to his bankroll. It was a huge payout for over 11 hours of work.
This is the final table finishers.

1st – Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers – $490,296
2nd – Kagm7F7 – $317,328
3rd – Chris “MoormanI” Moorman – $235,592
4th – Kadabra – $177,896
5th – Michael “YrrsiNN” Huber – $125,008
6th – Ben “Bttech86″ Tollerene – $81,736
7th – Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen – $55,292
8th – Mickey “Mement_mori” Petersen – $38,464
9th – Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers – $28,848

Im sure he aint too botherd, and big congrats...but has he not been kinda ripped off!
Assuming his 9th place was when his 2 accounts merged.
He had 2 accounts at the final, so potentally could have played both and took down a 1st and 2nd, rather than 1 being forced to take 9th, wich in turn under values one of his stacks, A deal if possable would have been ideal before the merge.
$519,144 Was his total win.
IMO the tables should have gone to 6 man tables, and any merge avoided for as long as possable.

When you pull yourself that trick dont accept your second entry to be kicked in 9th place Smile

Yeah i completely agree. Does seem like he got a raw deal being forced out with his 2nd account being 2nd..

one hell of a achievement, to get two hands to such a good position. would be interesting to know his total buy inn's in the tournament and how many entries he entered with
1. If you were in a position in a tournament where you were on two or three tables before the bubble think of the pressure you could inflict knowing you could not be knocked out instantly.
2. do most people have the resources to play multi entry games (yes the buy inn's fill the pot) but rebuy on multi table.
3. i suppose everyone in the tourney knows the score. wish i was in a possition to enjoy such buy inn's

I'd have to disagree with this. For starters it is obviously in the terms of condition for multiple entries. So you would be well aware in advance the consequences of arriving at a FT with multiple entries.

Secondly, adding one stack to another stack vastly improves your chances at hitting first place, more so than having two stacks IMHO.

You certainly couldn't switching the format of the MTT to 6max, 4max, HU etc - this would be grossly unfair. People have paid for a full-ring game - at this level of play people are choosing the formats they excel at, the last thing a full-ring expert wants on their final table is for it to suddenly turn into short handed play long before necessary..

It's interesting how the larger pokersites keeps coming up with new formats all of the time. I never have the time to try them out, since I'm struggling with mastering the same old THNL.

Is this a sign of the pokermarket getting weaker, with less players, or just natural?

As for the 9th place beeing a rip off or not: what will happen when a player reach the final table with two stacks must be in the rules somewhere, so when one signs up one should be aware of it. They can't just make up rules as the game progresses, can they?

I dont like this format at all! Another way for FT to generate more rake on all in donks that hope to get lucky! Anyway, this tourney was serious and congrats to that guy! That is quite achievement! Worship
