Have you ever played anyone from Antarctica?????  0
I always go around the table and see where everyone is from. Just a habit I guess. Find it very interesting, and sometimes you get to talk to these people. Nice chatting wiht people all over the world. Mind you, not very many actually talk. I find the "country" freerolls are more friendly towards chat. This morning in the "Turbo $150" freeroll I was surprised to see someone from Antarctica at table. Was wondering if you ever noticed someone from there? Just thought it was cool. Never got a chance to ask where they was actually from, like what country.

My guess is that the person wasn't really from Antartica. Might have been, but likely he/she just filled that in. At Ipoker I belive you can write just about anything as your place of recidense.

At least, everytime I have come across someone living in an interesting place, it has turned out they have written it as a joke.

Greetings from Pjot.
Reciding under your garage.

So far i've only seen two players from "Antarctica". I spotted both these players on Full Tilt Poker in a freeroll.
As you know Full Tilt Poker shows the location of a specific player according to the player information posted by the user in his personal profile. They can basically write down any location there as long as they play freerolls, make a small bankroll and start palying cash games or SNGs. Of course they can't keep up this fictive location after they make the first deposit or make the first money withdraw.
What i don't know is if they'll have problems on Full Tilt Poker's ID check process, they basically submit a fake location.
This palyer you saw this morning was on Full Tilt Poker?

In my experience on FTP, if a persons country is filled in then they have made a deposit. I always thought at FTP you had to put in your real address. I know it has to correspond to your payment options. But an interesting thought.
No, there are no countries down there. people from different countries occupy the settlements there. Yes, they have power, and cell phones. Yes it was on FTP that I am talking about.
Thanks all for your reply's. Still in the $100 BRM, 154/427...

Playing against guys from Antarctica? Don't do it. The penguins are just to good at poker. They are cold as ice and eat all the fish.

A pilot friend of mine was stationed in Antarctica, I'll have to ask him if he played poker over there...

I once played against someone from Greenland.

@BMWman If you make a deposit you need to write down your real information. The same is also available if you want to make your first withdraw.
But if you build your bankroll by playing freerolls you don't need to write down your real information or your real location.
Of course when you want to withdraw funds you need to change the fictive information with your real information in order to pass the Full Tilt Poker ID check.

Antarctica only has scientists/military personnel living on it, there are no civilians living there minus of course any daring civilians with a very seaworthy boat who attempt the trek. Even if you were currently there it would probably be in some government facility and it wouldn't be your home address (I suspect).

I agree with the others here he probably just wrote it in. What stakes were you playing?

I do the same thing BMW, always go around the table to see where everyone is from. I like to believe most people are not documenting a ficticious address or country in which theylive in. Anyone ever planning to win a few $$ wouldn't falsify this data.
Initially when I started playing I couldn't believe the amount of people playing poker from places all over the world. Since then I see it's a world wide game and find it thrilling to talk with peolple all over the world, like here in BRM. Good Luck to All!

@Arithmajik You are right, in Antarctica there are only military and scientists. Further more in Antarctica there aren't any banks and no gouverment so you can't be a Antarctica rezident for that matter. As we know on your poker profile you need to write done your address and location, not the location in which you are at that time. This is available on Full Tilt, on pokerstars the system shows your location from which your IP is.
The guy i saw playing from Antarctica was on 0.50/1 $ NLHE cash tables.

You can have internet anywhere with a satellite phone. Just out of curiousity, I changed my country to Antarctica, hehehe.........
And I was still able to sign up for the Canadian Freeroll. So this says it all, doesn't it. Good luck my Mobster friends Worship

When registering to a freeroll they verify your IP address, not your location you wrote down in the player information case.
Before making my first deposit on Full Tilt Poker i didn't had anything wrote down in the player info case but played on real money because i won come cash on freerolls.
What about putting in the location case: "GPS failure..." Big Smile
Good luck at the tables!
