Playing poker while sick: Just don't do it!  0
Well, I've done this before and thought I had learned my lesson, but I started off the week with a $$ goal in mind. The only problem is that last weekend I also caught my son's cold, started getting a soar throat by Sunday night and then was slightly woozy, sneezing and lacking in energy all week. I finally went to see a doctor yesterday, but by then I was starting to feel better! I think the day off from work also helped my recovery. However the damage to my bankroll was substantial. I also got lots of bad beats, three times flopping trips vs. flush draws, with flush coming through each time. Short stacker launching preflop his stack of 30bb at me with 5-7s after I raised to 11bb with AA, and he rivers flush. Half stacker calls my QQ with 6-8o, 9bb, gets a 6 on the flop, shoves and I call, and rivers an 8. Who says donks disappear past the microstakes!

Anyway, just wanted to post this so that if you ever do not feel well and you are not bringing your "A" game to the table, do something else or play tiny limits so that you do not damage your bankroll. Yesterday and today have been good days now that I am feeling better, and even played some MTTs with good success to give a much needed boost. Time to recover what I lost and get some revenge! Evil Evil Evil Evil Evil

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I agree 1000% you really need to be playing your top game to actually be profitable, at any stakes! I'm even going to try and quit smoking ciggarretes because I think having nicotine withdrawals at the table effects my decision making process. Thumbs up Nice thread

You are right, i always try to stay away from poker when i'm sick or very tired. I also have a personal experience from two months or so ago, similar story, a cold and decided to play some poker, in just 25 or 30 hands i managed to lost 3 buy-in. Luckly i was lucid enough the respect the most important rule of poker, bankroll management. I haven't played for 3 or 4 days but when i played again i managed to recover the 3 buyins plus a decent profit. It was a good lesseon overall though.
Thanks for sharing and good luck at the tables!

Nothing more to say here. Carry on. I played really sick once, and only once. Good luck, be safe.

Well, outside of the Freak up here, I guess everybody feels the same way.
Can´t even remember if i ever played while sick, but I don´t see myself doing it at all.
Even tired, I ship a bunch of coffee, and things go a lot better for me.
I seem to need that adrenaline high to kaap things going on the up and up.

DOH !!

Im all doped up on Oycodone, Had a 3 hour surgery to repair my ankle. Im gonna try to give it a go, I have 4 Onyx cup round 2 tickets so will use 1 today as they run every saturday. Other than that I will stick to freerolls. Who else has been multi tabling and went all in with A4 mistaking it for AA. Ive done that when sober lol with 6 tables open shrunk down to fit side by side on 15inch latpot screen.
Confused

Well when u feel sick and are homebound, what better to do than take out the
laptop, snuggle up on the couch, turn on the tv and play poker!
I really never noticed being sick having any influence on my pokergame or
results. Being sick is boring, poker is a very nice distraction.
Offcourse you shouden't be doped up Big Smile

i think all the superstition in the world wouldnt keep donks from being donks. Ive personally lost a huge portion of my BR on bone head calls that get paid off, some of the hands i was called with were utterly rediculous and was still able to win, almost gave up AND i was at the top of my game, so i dont think it really matters how you feel just sling chips and pray Sad Sad

It's better to not play any poker or any other sort of online gambling, just turn on the TV as mentioned above or do something else... in brief just enjoy life without a computer for just a span of time... trust me you'll feel very good Smile
