Vegas Virgin here .................., WANT ADVICE.  +1
I am planning a trip to Vegas for June (my first time EVER) and I want to spend as little as possible on food, hotel, and travel, so I can spend more on gambling!

Is anyone FROM Vegas or been several times so could give me hints and tricks on how to do Vegas cheaply.

Also, how does one get into a hold'em game in Vegas?

Food, you dont have to worry about.... you can eat like a king (or queen in your case) for very little.

Both times I went I went on travelocity or a site similar and booked both hotel and travel in a package. I dont remember the exact price, but if you plan far enough out you can keep it on the cheap

Have traveled to Vegas since I was 19 and acvtually lived 68 miles outside Vegas for 4 years (2004 to 2008) and as d44ve stated food is cheap and if your gambling drinks are free (tipping gets you better service though meaning the waitress will be checking on you more then a non-tipper).

Anyway no matter what, go on line and check out all the package deals you can possibly find. Expedia, Travelocity, etc. Book early and find cost savings by doing so. All Casino's have various coupon packets/gift packs for everything from free spins to food. The nicer the casino the higher the rates, but all are reasonable. Some of my favorites are Bellagio, Stratosphere, Excaliber. New York New York, Treasure Islands okay even Circus Circus, but if you stay in some of the older casinos like Lucky Strike, Horseshoe, etc. you'll save a ton of $$ on rooms. Remember you can visit them all so a room is all in what one desires. I could carry on, but search on-line because all the deals change constantly!
As for poker, not all casinos have a poker room, but there are 100's with various limits. Good Luck and no doubt you'll have a great time. Check out the water show outside the Bellagio (free).

Good luck in Vegas, while your there maybe you could check out some of the
WSOP side-events? And they will also be running live sng and cashgames 24/7.
Plenty of poker for you there Smile

Yeah! Vegas expert on losing $$. Best I ever did was $3600 on digital poker and $2700 on Roulette. Now that's what I walked away with. I'm actually in the hole to Vegas / Laughlin for a minimum of $15,000.00 easy. I have no desire to see that city at all. lol, just joking! Would go tomorrow if possible! Good Luck to Wicked in Vegas and to All at the tables!

Thanks for the tips so far.

I already am looking into a flight + hotel deals sites, that's an obvious way to save Dollar

Since we are planning on June (when its hotter than a whore's c-nt) and way in advance I'm hoping for some great deals on flight.
The problem with those sites is they usually list the top notch hotels in their packages.

I don't want a sleazy room but nor do I plan on spending much time IN the room so it doesn't have to be swanky either.
WE will likely be "off the strip"

I am aware of the importance of getting a "Player's card"

I found a few sites that list the top 10 free things to see and the Bellagio water fountains is on that list. We planned on that already too, but thanks for the extra recommendation.
Also on the list is the Freemont street light show thing and getting my picture with Binion's Million Dollar display!

Also will be checking out the Hard Rock Cafe for sure.

(There's a 7.77 steak special for gamblers that's not on the menu.... you have to ask for it) while checking out all the rock and roll memorabilia.

I'll be creating a poll of the free attractions and hope y'all will vote on what you deem most worth it!

Since I'm not a high roller, I'm not expecting to get comped rooms or anything but am looking out for the best cheap (or free ) buffets.

The main thing I would like a great deal on is a great show (Blue Man group, or Cirque de soliel)

Any advice on getting those tickets for less than a 100 pp?

Worship

Also, (and this will sound bad ....but I'm being honest) we were wanting to avoid the areas and hotels that have a lot of OPK (Other Peoples KIDS)

I'm not going to Vegas to hear a bunch of screaming children so we won't be staying at Excalibur or Circus Circus (although I thought about is since that is the one from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas isn't it?) (Remember when he couldn't get off the carousel?,.......hehehehehehe)

What week in June Kitty? I will be out there the last week in June for the Teamsters National Convention to get the ballot for our election nominated and filled. It will be at Bally's as far as I know. 5 years ago, theb free buffets are all but gone because of all the celebrity chefs out there now. Look and you can still find the ultra-inexpensive meals. Place directly behind Bally's still had the .37 cent steak and eggs breakfast, .52 cent burger and fries lunch. As you were told about plenty of poker, 1 way to play a fairly inexpensive game is several casino's have a midday tourney that rotates and cost like $50 prize + $5 entry + $5 addon usually 1500 or so chips (this is a tip fund for the dealers and I recommend doing it). Usually 50/60 people cap on these. 5 years ago was only time I got to play poker and was on last day there. Finished 2nd and took $750 on a $60 investment. If y'all gonna be there that week, let me know and will get a location where I will be doing my part at the convention and maybe can put a face or more if any other BRM'ers will be out there that week.

Good luck there Smile
Never been in Las Vegas but from i heard Vegas can be cheap as hotel, food if you know the right places to stay in and the right casinos to play at. One thing is sure though, there are plenty of places where you can gamble.
I also think you can make some nice profits if you can find the right table to sit at and you have a bit of poker knowledge and live poker experience.
Good luck there, maybe you can post a thread with your trip there Smile

in germany u buy chip´s by the cashier or the dealer and sit down on the cashgame table ask for the minimum buyin sometimes there have waiting list but we have not so many tables here. Think is the same in Vegas.

Well you just walk into the Rio convention center, open your eyes and what do
you know: pokertables as far as you can see, with people and dealers
sitting round them. Some amateurs, wannabees and some pro's.
You can watch all, and when you get a tingeling feeling in your stomach,
you just walk over to the cashier, pull out your wallet and buy chips.
Than you just walk over to a table with blinds that suit you, if there's a
seat open ask very politely if you can sit down and party.
And if you win enough, you invite us over Smile
