You're lucky that you have time to play Tongue But I hope to find some soon too. Congratulations on your SNG's results, it's very profitable way of playing poker if you can multitable them like at least 10+ tables Smile Also playing SNG from time to time is good, always you can 'boost' your bankroll a little bit.

Well, vacations have come to an end, but had a good time. The past two days I have spent the afternoon cleaning my garage, which is big enough for two cars but is normally full of STUFF and toys that the kids take out and then just leave lying around. So with my wife out getting school supplies on Thursday and the kids over at my mom's for the afternoon I got going, and set up the laptop where I could have a poker game going. I was under-rolled for it but decided to play 100NL and commit only a certain amount so that if it tanked I wouldn't have to redeposit, and by the end of the afternoon I was up three BI!

Feeling pretty good about that yesterday morning I set up to try and do the same thing as I finished up that job, but this time with my daughter playing nicely in a newly-liberated corner with some Lego blocks. Playing poker with kids around has given me some interesting interruptions over the years but this was a first: after about a half hour of everything going nicely I hear her fall and start wailing, turn around and see blood coming out of her mouth! When I realized that she had knocked out one of her loose baby teeth I calmed down a bit, brought her in and cleaned her up before going back to the garage to find the tooth about a metre away. The tooth fairy came by last night and my little girl now has a "window" smile. Smile

Playing all sorts of different levels these days, from NL10 up to NL100 depending on how I am feeling, and throwing in some PLO6 and PLO10 along with SNGs. Having fun and building that bankroll, so what else could you ask for? Two more days of playing time left before I head for Washington D.C. on Sunday for a conference relating to the industry I work in, and I dare not bring my laptop and play in my spare time there! Haven’t flown in a couple of years so looking forward to it; as an ex-drag racer I always enjoy the feeling of acceleration on take-off.

Here are some pictures of my first love, a 1967 Pontiac Firebird I restored and modified slightly in my late teens. Ahhhh, to be 20 years old again, a warm summer Saturday night at Napierville Dragway, the headers wide open on my 6.6L engine creating a sweet rumble under the floor pan, slicks ready to grab the track after the burnout, the smell of hi-octane leaded fuel exhaust, and lining up at the start line for the countdown on the “Christmas tree” starting lights. Memories, sweet memories….

Just came back from D.C. late yesterday, and just amazed at how much happened in three days, especially when you don’t sleep much! My flight was delayed on Sunday two hours while major thunderstorms hit Washington, so I only arrived at my hotel room at 8:30 PM. The welcoming cocktail event was almost over, but I found my boss, we linked up with three other Quebecers, a Scot we already knew well and a very affable Aussie who got nicknamed “Kangaroo Jack”. We then went to the bar and set the tone for the event: drinking and having fun! The other Quebecers were a hoot and Kangaroo Jack was really funny and had lots of interesting stories to tell, as well as a large capacity to drink. On a few days some of our gang would be late for the morning sessions and/or be very pale, but every evening by supper everything had evened out and we were back to our usual sessions of doing arm curls with drinking glasses.

During the event there was a poker tournament to fund the scholarships our organization funds. My boss paid the $40 for me to play as she doesn’t play, we were about 45 players but I only finished 12th, very tough to bluff newbies getting playing lessons from the dealer and calling off 40% of their stack with bottom pair! Lots of fun anyways.

Where was I when the big quake hit D.C. on Tuesday? On a bus on my way to a tour of a museum, and with the bus lurching and twisting around construction on the roads (plus my driver drove like a teenager) I didn’t feel a thing. When we got to our destination the building had been evacuated and we had to turn back, and got stuck in the traffic because everyone had been sent home from work while buildings were inspected. Three hours in a bus for a drive-by view of the museum for only $35, what a steal! Luckily the trip home was uneventful, hit straight flush this morning vs. Ace high flush for a very nice pot, and easing back into the swing of things. Happy to be home. Smile

Back on Pokerstars! After a six month absence I put $20 in, and after some bad hands at 7stud and draw, I have rebuilt and have about $30. Some of the rebuilding has been with 5 card fixed limit draw, lots of fun IMO, and lately I am at NL10. Hoping to use the profits to help fund a trip to Disneyland with the family in the spring.

My account at 888 has been stalled since last weekend, especially with being gone for three days, but hitting lots of bad beats - this morning full house vs. full house twice and lost! QQ2 flop with pocket 2s, other player obviously has Q and the board goes finishes QQ277 FFS! Tired and a little tilty so off to do something else now. GL!

That went fast! It was just a small bankroll but once again Pokerstars kicked me in the nuts and then bashed me in the teeth (now you know why my teeth are so f**ked). First KK vs. AA, then QQ vs. AA and then a gamble with what was left and GONE! Luckily things have picked up on 888 very well this morning so feeling better about things. Smile

Sorry Jovi, I still run the old 888 software which doesn't support the video tables. Four years of playing with that look makes it hard for me to change, especially when things are going well you don't want to mess with it. GL!

Sorry about that torti/jovi! When I am on the receiving end of that it makes me wonder why I play omaha at all. Last night I was playing loose as a goose for some reason...

A few hands after you left flopped nut straight on a heavily preflop raised board, vs. set and flush draw and .... it held! Better luck next time, but lookout for the guy with the crazy eyes and bad teeth Smile

Running really good on Rummy Royal these days. Deposited there a few days ago and have doubled up my BR. I play exclusively HU "rounds" type games there, and although not for a lot of money I find it a nice change from poker.

Running better now on 888 after flat-lining for a week. Playing mostly NL20 and NL30, but playing higher too. Had a single NL100 game going the other night while watching TV, and that turned out really good. A little bit of PLO6 and turbo SNG 6 person too.

Monday is Labour Day here in Canada, so a nice three day weekend to grind. Plus painting inside the house, and promised Mrs. Mahdrof a candle light supper where we put the kids to bed early, have a nice meal where we can talk for a long time without being interrupted, and lots of Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Blink

never tried to play rummy much but nice to hear you are doing good there Thumbs Up i think rummy requires more skill than poker and there are few donks to give you money.

What a nice car you once had ... but no requirements for a roll bar on a racing track, i guess the times have changed ?! Big Smile

I like rummy heads up because it is fast, and I like rummy because similar to 7stud you need to remember which cards your opponent picked up, threw down, and sometimes you can dsiguise what you are putting together based on what cards you throw down and when. Good mental exercise which is fun!

At those speeds it wasn't really required, I was doing the 1/4 mile (approx. 0.4km) in about 12.7 seconds with a speed at the end of about 175 km/h in the "Street Car" category. I was putting some extras on the motor to race in "Semi-Pro" category (10.50-12.50 seconds) when life took over Blink Semi-pro would have required roll cage, yes. I won my category at the annual "King of the Street" meet two years in a row back then. Good memories but some close calls on a couple of occasions.

September is back to work and back to school for a lot of people, and less free time for me to grind. This summer I got lazy and was mostly playing one to four tables at a time, but now with less time I am working on my multitabling. Dropped down in stakes and playing eight to twelve tables, a mix of NL10, NL20 and NL30 and working on my focus, strategy and obtaining results, trying to increase my rate of BI won / hour. Just popped out of a streak that saw pocket pairs not hit set for a crazy amount of time, plus flopped quads with pocket pair QQ against nut bar who shoved preflop (he had about 3/4 full stack) with 89o - and ended up getting trip 8s! Imagine, no Q shows up he beats me after shoving preflop with that crap. On the other hand, gotta thank the poker gods for having some people play like that...

The kids are back at school, my son has had a sore throat for a few days and now I have one too. After a good week of getting back into grinding shape I risk slipping, so hopefully I stick to the microstakes and don’t tilt (very easy to do when I am not well) until I am better.

I have had a bad habit in the past of making solid gains only to lose it by trying to climb too far too fast. I think part of the reason for that is every time I have withdrawn money from poker it has gone into our general account to be used for all kinds of stuff, and have never gotten to really “feel” the worth of beating the game regularly. To try and counter this I am opening an account later this week which I hope to stock solely from poker profit, I’ll let you know if it works for me or not.

Am in the midst of a bit of a cold, which normally means that I tilt easily, but am finally learning from the past (who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks). I haven't slowed down my grinding and so far so good.

As mentioned in my previous post I opened a bank account solely for poker profits, and if what I am trying works for three months I will update you exactly how I structured it. Hoping that slow and steady wins the race.... GL mobsters, just not against me Evil

Been taking a break from posting on BRM. Things were pretty quiet and a lot of same old same old, so just stopping by to try and crack the safe and not much else. Game going well, super busy, you know the routine. GL all Smile
