I have used AVG, Norton and a few others. Avast Free is the best there is when it comes to Anti virus. Now for your spyware. Advanced System Care Free is the best there is for free. It has many free programs on the site, look them up. I find this works very well against spyware, malware, and even internet connection. It has a booster for games and connection etc.....

So far i used the majority of antivirus software out there. To name a few i had Norton Antivirus, Bitdefender, AVG, etc. After i tried them all and can say i would only recommend AVG antivirus & spyware, it a great antivirus software. I use it now for almost 3 years and i absolutely have no problem whatsoever. It always tells you all threats before even accessing the site when used in conjuction with Mozilla Firefox. First i actually tried the free version of the software and it was also very efficient, but get or download the full package if you want to be safe. As spyware i also used the free version of Lavasoft, a swedish software company that worked really well. Good luck in your choice!

IMHO - paying for AV is just a scam.
There's plenty of free options out there. For general AV/Firewall I recommend Avast over AVG at the moment - but they're both fine it's really personally opinion.
FYI: I work in tech support for an internet service provider - we get problems with Norton EVERY day - so if you're going to pay for AV - then my advice is to steer well clear of NAV.
cuonthefelt, and don't forget that you can download a fully functional trial version of commercial anti-virus. For instance, SuperNoob suggests Kaspersky...Good choice and you can download 30-day trial from their official website. 30 days is long enough to figure out if it suits you or not.

If you run Windows 7 - then MS pretty much provides a full suite for free - nothing else needed. Windows & security has come a LONG way since 95/98 and even the early years of XP - if you keep Windows7 up to date and its security addon extras up to date - and you're not an idiot (don't click dumb s**t or open random email attachments) then you'll be fine.
i have no anti virus and have no viruses clean your harddrive reinstall your software and buy your porn if this isn't an option for you head to your local future shop and talk to them. you would be surprized how many "'free" anti virus software program downloads come with a free trojan virus bonus

Jessthehuman you are right, Norton is not a antivirus i would recommend, you get problems all the time and the software usually blocks the acces to internet pages and the virus database definition takes a lot to update. Free or not i would not recommend Norton Antivirus. Also as stated above don't download and install free full versions of antivirus doftware. As stated above many contain a trojan in it. I recommend downloading and installing an free antivirus software from a company that provides them for free like AVG or Avast. Anyways the safest is to have a mac, my uncle has an imac for several of years. He ordered it from an Apple store and since today he never had a software problem. He also accessed a lot of "danger" sites and nothing happend. But of course it's not cheap.

In my opinion, the best antivirus you can get for free is Comodo Internet Security, which is a suite including Antivirus, Firewall, malware prevention and more. Another great AV that i've tested and it works in very good conditions is Panda Global Protection. The only problem with this AV is that it costs € 91,99 for 1 year of license.

Hi
I am using Avast - this seems really good for me, although this is just for home use. Updates are easy and I currently am working from home and it does the job.
GL with your search there are so many around you could spend a week looking.
