Pocketed Smaller Pair  0
Dear All,

Seems I've grown from zero to something bigger than zero.. lol
Thanks for your comments.
I have another weakness that need to be solved.
A pocket 99, 88 or whatever smaller numbers always bring me losses.
Any idea on 'when the exact time to retreat?'

Thanks

If you raise or call before the flop, and depending on whether you are playing a tourney or cash game, depending on the flop i.e. you hold 99 and the flop comes A K Q i would suggest you fold straight away. There are so many things that you have to consider.

1. Pre-flop action
2. Size of the pot (Are you pot committed?)
3. The Flop - are they all over cards
4. How many people are involved post flop
5. Have you hit the flop - trips/ set?

Basically Not2under there are so many thing to consider that it would be difficult to explain here. I have one general rule, if I play pocket 9's and miss the flop, unless I can get the turn cheaply I give up on the hand. No doubt others will tell you different.

This probably hasn't helped but

GL to you anyway...................

I usually set mine with those pairs up to 99-1010 ish.
Don't be the agressor with them, limp and call as long as it's no more than 5-7% of your stack. Afterwards if no set is flopped, or any draw (open ender, double belly buster, what not) I just fold them to any aggression shown.

For me I like to play them from late position and try to see the flop cheap.
If you hit you set on the flop, you can get the most value for it from late position.
In addition I try to stick to one general rule: NO SET - NO BET (even though I braek with this rule in some situations).

I completely agree with MarcWinz, Thumbs Up. Not2under you must always consider a lot of factors and in primis you position. good luck Blink

Thanks all,

I am tying to limit my eagerness in poker. I guess thats my main weakness.
Another 1.. If u have AK or AQ . Before flop, somebody all in.
Its very hard not to call. What should i do?? Based in my experience, the losing chance is big.
But it always happen in early stage of freeroll.

freerolls always resemble more of a lottery than poker. in early stages i usually fold those hands. later when most of the donks are dead u can start to try to play some poker.

Hi again not2under.

Once again it is all about position tournament or cash game?

If I was dealt AK in a donkey freeroll early in the tourney I would probably call because the idiots seem to go all-in with anything. Ok you will get beat sometimes, but not all the time.

Then again if it was early in the WSOP and I had a read on my opponent, it would depend on that. Is is Phil Hellmuth I would probably call, as it would be something I call brag about for ages if I knocked him out, then again if it was Jesus Ferguson I would probably fold.

It all depends on position and opponent.................. As they say "you pay your money and take your chance"

GL anyway. Experience will teach you this.

always try to see the flop cheaply as possible with small pairs if you decide to play them ,
and if you hit a set your hoping for a big pay off,
but if you miss the flop usally fold, unless the flop comes out with under cards to your pair,
i wish you good luck at the tables and see soon for more posts Smile
