This is the only place I know where ibcan vent out my Problems so here I go about a week ago I had very bad bloating pains in my stomach area and under my ribs so I went to the hospital waited 6 hours the doctor asks what my symptoms are? I told him my rib cage really hurts and I haves bloating in my stomach he tells me I have an ulcer and he prescribes me some pills to take for 7 days ok so I go and buy thesepills called hp pack so on my 4th dAy of taking these pills I'm at work at the end of the day I'm really sick from breathing in poisons fumes from the forklift that have been leaking so I toto the hospital as soon as I got in the nurse takes my blood pressure and takes blood from me so I wait 6 hours! And by then ibwas feeling alot better so I told the nurse I'm going to leave and she said the doctor will see you really soon so I stayed suddenly the doctor cOmes and talks to me and he asked a bunch of questions then he said this "I'm not overly concerned about you so I'm not going to take any blood tests I think you are a very healthy man and the fumes would make anyone sick" then I said you guys did take blood from me? Then right he looks very confused puzzled and says oh that's right! I looked at your results and they look fine! Wtf? Doesn't make sense then he says I see you came in last week with an ulcer ibsaid yes the other doctor prescribed me pills for 7 days which foster me 300$ and h tells me oh that's impossible! It takes atleast a month to heal an ulcer! ......so what was the other doctor thinking I fkking think they r thiefs and are messing with me I officially hate doctors now I can't afford theses pills now and don't know what to do they want you out of the hospital as soon as possible

there some dear pills. sounds like the dr`s dont look at medical reports befor they see a patient maybe you shoud tell em to look at your record befor they tend to u. carbt believe how much those pills are in the u.k we pay £7 for a prescription and that covers the whole course of medication needed.

Hope you don't get an ulcer like mine - I've had it ~10yrs, never heals - I have to take pills every day or I get pretty sick pretty quick :/
Most ulcers heal though. I haven't trusted doctors for a long time, they're just humans - and humans make plenty of mistakes and do things for plenty of wrong reasons. Never take a doctors word as gospel - I'm not saying don't go to doctors, obviously thats a bad idea; but if you're ever unsure about a doctors recommendation - then go see another one. It's amazing how much one doctors opinion can contradict the other.

thats because we have the NHS pocket, people complain about it but it would a be a nightmare without it and cost a fecking fortune if anything is wrong with you. Its scary to think that if you dont have any money and there is something serious wrong with you that well your fucked in some places in the world.
I agree jess I and i think alot of people when your really young think a doctor is some super human that should always know what is up with you lol. I remember i went one time and he had no idea what was up and seemed his advice to me was useless. That day i came to the conclusion that they are sometimes bloody useless to and are just human at the end of the day

Hi xpok3rkingx.
Sound like you are feeling a bit rubbish and hope you feel better soon. As regard your costs I cannot believe how much you have to pay for your prescriptions. As has been mentioned we have the NHS here in the UK, which means if you are capable you need to pay for your prescriptions - £7 per time. If you have a permanent illness you are even exempt from those charges. My point is that people in this country even complain about that.
In my position with various illnesses and disabilities, taking 14 tablets and 4 injections a day I would have to pay the equivalent of $5000.00 per week. (Based on US workings). The short answer is I would be dead. I hope that we all appreciate what we have and hope that by listening to our friends in Canada and the US we understand what we have.
Anyway GL to you all and hope that you win big in Canada to refund your money and are feeling better soon.

hmmm ok from what you said you may even not be having an ulcer, the only way to confirm ulcer is via upper GI endoscopy or radiography. but most of the patients are treated on basis of provisional diagnosis or to prevent formation of ulcer.
regarding your treatment - you were given hp pack empirically , which is a course to treat Helicobacter pylori infection ( most common cause of peptic ulcer). this is given for 7 to 14 days depending on the severity of illness. so most probably u dont have to repeat them unless you test positive H. pylori in future. here at my place it costs around 20-30$ for that pack, maybe meds are too costly at your place.
regarding healing of ulcer - healing might take some time depending on how severe the ulcer has progressed and other risk factors. so if you still have symptoms or if your ulcer is H. pylori negative you might need to take medicine to control acid level in your stomach.
and stay off booze, pain killers and try avoiding the fumes.
if you dont like your doctor/hospital get a new one but dont ignore your ulcer (if you have one) it can lead to bleeding episodes/ perforation or even progress to cancer. not all doctors are the same.
and regarding hatred of doctors - doctors are not magicians and they do make mistakes sometimes, because medicine is much more complex and unpredictable than most of the people can comprehend and many times doctors are indeed right but within limitations.

I remember a joke with doctors. One man go to hospital for a surgery after the operation a relative ask the doctor how did the surgery work. The doctor sad that it was a succes but the pacient is dead )

Update I was just released from the hospital after having very bad pains I was on morphine all night gi came and seen me and was the worst feeling ever he gave me an option of him sticking a tube down my throat undrugged or drugged I picked undrugged that was the worst pain I've ever felt I coould not handle it so he had to sedate me he sprayed my throat and gave me some kind of meds that put me to sleep and I can't remember anything and they did ultrasounds swell so the problem is I got gull ladder stones in my tubes so I wasted all this money on hp pack the doctor was pretty pisses at the other doctors who said I had an ulcer without doom any tests

Did they make a X-ray of your stomach? Did they test your stool for a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori ? This bacteria is a frequent cause of stomach pains and discomfort. What are the names of the medication they prescribed to you?
