After day 2 of the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship still 14 players remain and will come back tomorrow to fight for the World Series of Poker gold bracelet and the $378,642 first-place prize.
Daniel Negreanu began the day as the monster chip lead, but as the blinds continued to rise, lady luck turned against him.
Negreanu’s downfall came with around 27 players remaining:
"After losing a big hand to Steve Landfish on the river, Negreanu uncharacteristically shot up, accidentally tipping his chair over, and slammed his Beats headphones on the ground. Pieces from the headphones flew as the tournament floor grew eerily quiet. It was clear Negreanu was extremely frustrated. Regardless, Negreanu remained silent as he picked up his chair and sat down to rebuild his stack of 27,000.
Unfortunately, things only got worse for “Kid Poker” as he dropped to just 20,000. He decided to commit most of that preflop after Tam Hang raised in early position. The flop came out , and Negreanu got the last of his money in, with Hang making the call.
Negreanu needed to dodge a king or an eight, and the turn brought the , giving Negreanu a full house. Negreanu started to say "well that does it" before he stopped himself, realizing that Hang still had straight flush outs. Sure enough, the hit the river, and Negreanu nearly drop kicked the table jumping out of his seat. A frustrated Negreanu let out a few words of disbelief before walking away from the tournament and out of the room."
It was clearly a bad day for Negreanu, but Matthew Gallin had instead a great day and will start the final day tomorrow as a good chip leader.
Final 14 players:
Matthew Gallin 575,000 Daniel Idema 524,000 Steve Landfish 493,000 Tam Hang 454,000 Domenico Denotaristefani 354,000 Justin Smith 330,000 Nick Schulman 297,000 Barry Greenstein PokerStars PokerStars Team Pro (USA) 251,000 Darren Woods 240,000 Richard Brodie 218,000 Matt Hawrilenko 210,000 Marwan Abdelal 208,000 Hoyt Corkins 172,000 Isaac Haxton 153,000
All remaining players have guaranteed at least $24,060 for making it this far, and as stated before, the winner will walk away with World Series of Poker gold bracelet and $378,642.

Wow I am a Negreanu fan I follow him on twitter and admire his play a lot so this comes as a surprise but it goes to show how even the best get frustrated at Variance it affects even the best I have to admit it is something I find hard to keep my head over. But I am sure Negreanu will bounce back he is normally very level headed.

I agree with you, Daniel Negreanu is one of the best poker players in the world, especially live and also a true team pokerstars pro Plus he is one of the best guys you could have at a poker table since you always love his lines and the general atmospehere he creates at the poker table Even though he is a proffesional poker player, we always need to remember that these guys are first of all peoples before being proffessional poker players, so you need to understand that from time to time and depending on the circumstaces you can be really pissed off But i'm sure Daniel has the strenght to calm down and sit down again with dignity at a poker table from every poker event out there Good luck to all and i'm sure we'll only hear good things about Daniel Negreanu in the future!

That is what playing fixed limit hold'em for two days does to a person. But i can understand him: Making a boat, but losing to a runner runner straight flush.

This makes a headline only because he is a great player and a great person at the tables. Just a bad day, a lot of bad beats and leaving a tournament he was leading some hours before. Let's move on
