Poland Bans Online Poker?  0
Found this on a poker blog and thought the best way to see if this piece of news is real is to post the question on bankrollmob since i know we have mobsters from Poland:

"We're not fluent in Polish, in fact, we don't know any Polish at all, so we'd like to thank Google Translate for getting us through this article, even though it was still difficult to understand.
According to Webhosting.pl, online poker is now illegal in Poland after President Bronislaw Komorowski signed an act on games of chance. The types of games that are banned are called "hard gambling" games, or games the legislature feels are addictive or pose the possibility of cheating.
Poker is one of the games that falls under this ban, unless it is in tournament format. The court has ruled that "poker is a gambling game, based on a random element (a hand of cards)" and "it's a game, leading to addiction, because of direct participation in it and follow its course in the decision."

So all polish mobsters please free to join the discussions!

I can say just that - it's a b******t Smile Yep, indeed he signed an act, but I think there isn't single one poker player in Poland who cares about it Smile Big poker rooms say that they won't ban Polish players as long as Poland is in EU and as long as their room has an EU license, so only our goverment can do something about it, but well... they won't Tongue Why? Because we won't let them to catch us Smile They can't track my MB account Smile Also as long as I'm playing micro stakes I won't cash out a lot, so... Tongue

So that's all, I'm still playing poker and they can kiss my ass if they'll wash their mouth first Smile

Nice post LooseKiddie, you are absolutely right, there seeme to be this discussion in every european country out here about online poker, it's like everything works perfectly and the only problem of the world is the validity of online poker Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down

I guess this should be one of the last problems they should have been interested in considering the economic situation of unied states and europe is that bad in the moment, they should be focused in growing the economy and not on banning their citizens from playing online poker lol

I think there are other countries in europe in which "legally" poker is banned but people are still playing online poker without problems, i think Estonia is in this situation but i might be wrong....

Our country is stupid and I won't pretend that it isn't. How the hell poker can be treated like slots or other completely random and -EV s**t, huh? Well, it's treated even worse, because I can play slots if I'd like to - we have a lot of small "casinos" in our city, which in fact is just a small room with some slots machines and I've one just across the street. But I can't play poker. SICK!

most of the politicians passing these kinda laws have no idea about poker and just treat it as gambling. its hard to stop people from playing as long as poker rooms keep offering their services unless they ask ISPs to block poker sites. hope this one dont go bad

@SuperNoob - I think they lost money stolen from our taxes on couple of rooms and that's why they want to ban poker Confused

There aren't many governments around that stand to gain anything by allowing the status quo of poker to continue. Unless they get their cut, having money leave their country to some online poker site operating offshore will not be viewed positively. If anyone knows of a government that isn't seeking to have their hand on your wallet for every last cent you have please let me know.

... very true... this is it Cool And Poland is a free country, but actually - full of stupid politicians with no imagination really, who created the anti-gambling act... and they want to milk the bull... Big Smile

I believe it wont be the last country doing that in the future.
If a country wants to ban something like that Loose and its determined to do it then you just say bye bye Smile
One easy way to do it its like someone said above asking from ISP'S to ban the traffic.

daraspol the think with the so called stupid politicians is that they get voted and acquiring their seat in the government.
So what that says about the voters? Smile

Hmm, sounds kind of like an Australian situation, technically most online gaming (including poker) is currently illegal in Australia; pretty much always has been, but as of yet, of than some scary talks/proposals - nothing has been done.

It's like downloading music or movies from the internet. Forbidden, there are laws against it, but everybody does it in my country.

Just one note about what has beeing said over here, I don't think that MB or Netellers are not trackable today.

Seems like all the governments out there are going crazy in controlling these things.
Hope Germany will not do the same, but normally for sure our government loves to have the hand on everything, especially where they can get money...

It can be true, but seems very strange. To a country that has suffered a lot in the second world war, that was hoping to have freedom for so many years, these generation who is now taking control of the government seems to have forgotten have all what their parents and grandparents have passed to give them the oportunity of enjoying freedom. And now they seem to be thinking about creating laws that struggles freedom? Strange. I dont know what else to say, but also in Portugal things are at least weird: have you heard about that funny protest where a bunch of guys and girls went naked on their bikes to the street? There was a group that tried to do that in Portugal and Police didnt let them... so, where's the freedom of speech?

Man it's still lame that this happened just because it may help sway other countries ideas. Good response LooseKiddie, "F" the police.

It's funny how they only ban the online gaming that directly competes with their local home based casinos. It's not addiction they're concerned about, it's competition. So lame.

Good luck keepin' it real Kiddie
