7 countries took part in Americas Cup of Poker at LAPT (Latin American Poker Tour) Punta del Este in Uruguay. After many hours of play, the Canadian team, led by returning team captain Greg DeBora - a well-known PokerStars Pro, took home the title after crushing Mexico in the final with 5-0. This is the second time Canada wins Americas Cup of Poker, and this year's title was worth $25,000.

Nice! Its a tourney that its not just about the money prize (which is low, we have to admit) but, most important, is about representing the country. Now they can say canadian players are better than south americans. Beware of the canadian players at the online poker tables, mobsters!

Ha ha, nice. Good going Team Canada, thanks for giving me the opportunity to win vicariously through you. Fakiry, you're probably right about the prize pool being low for such a professional level of play, but I know I'd take an opportunity on 25K if I could.

Quite a few good Canadian poker players on the scene, and I have come across a fair number of very solid online players too. Must be the long cold winter nights giving us the time to be inside playing and working on strategy. I must say, it was a very gratifying tournament to be a part of.
