Here's another update for those of you who are following this without watching the games
pool A
Team P W D L PF PA TF TA BP PTS New Zea 3 3 0 0 161 34 24 4 3 15 France 3 2 0 1 110 77 12 8 2 10 Canada 3 1 1 1 67 89 7 8 0 6 Tonga 3 1 0 2 61 84 6 12 1 5 Japan 4 0 1 3 69 184 8 25 0 2
Because Canada have only New Zealand left to play, it's safe to say that New Zealand (rbdflyboy) will top this group and France (magatt) will be runner up.
pool B
Team P W D L PF PA TF TA BP PTS England 3 3 0 0 121 22 17 1 2 14 Argentina 3 2 0 1 65 33 7 2 2 10 Scotland 3 2 0 1 61 43 4 3 2 10 Georgia 2 0 0 2 16 56 1 6 0 0 Romania 3 0 0 3 35 144 3 20 0 0
This group is still totally open. It is possible for England (b1gfoot) Scotland (Moesie) or Argentina (myself) to come top but only two can go through. Most likely, the England - Scotland game will decide it and most would predict an England win to put England top and knock the Scots out.
pool C
Team P W D L PF PA TF TA BP PTS Ireland 3 3 0 0 99 28 12 3 1 13 Australia 3 2 0 1 105 26 15 1 2 10 Italy 3 2 0 1 86 59 13 8 2 10 USA 4 1 0 3 38 122 4 18 0 4 Russia 3 0 0 3 35 128 5 19 1 1
The Italy - Ireland game is going to be a big decider. If Italy (Lukasb) wins they could finish second in the group and put Australia (supernoob) first but most likely Ireland (Starbay) will beat them easily and the Italians go home.
pool D
Team P W D L PF PA TF TA BP PTS South Africa 3 3 0 0 153 19 20 1 2 14 Wales 3 2 0 1 114 34 14 4 2 10 Samoa 3 2 0 1 86 36 9 4 2 10 Fiji 3 1 0 2 59 101 7 10 1 5 Namibia 4 0 0 4 44 266 5 36 0 0
Fiji and Namibia are out but technically Samoa (callie28) has a chance. But they will have to beat South Africa (welshgit) and this is unlikely whilst also hoping that Wales lose to Fiji, also unlikely although Wales have cocked things up worse before. Still, points difference means that Wales have a comfortable lead and should finish second in the group.

Some great rugby played this morning. The group stages are over and the quarter finals have been set for next week. The following 7 people still have a chance of winning the prize, which will be 500 mob points. (or 1000 mob points if my national team, Wales get to the final)
starbay, magatt, b1gfoot, welshgit, supernoob, rbdflyboy and awood88
Here are the matches to come and my predictions
Sat 8 Oct - Ireland v Wales
Should be a close game but I think Wales will win, just.
Sat 8 Oct - France v England
Neither teams are playing well atm but England will win comfortably.

It is definitely going to be an exciting weekend. I can hardly wait. Three of the games are quite hard to call and opinions are very varied.
I like how all the home nations are confident. So many of the irish think they can stuff Wales based on the Italy and Australia games but they haven't played consistently and they didn't beat the USA like Wales hammered Figi. Still Wales couldn't beat South Africa, even with the better play, so Wales will need to put away chances. Certainly, it will be a tough game.
I don't rate England as a team at all. They were lucky to get out of the group. They were nearly beat by Scotland and Argentina who really are way behind the rest of the big rugby nations. And yet I don't blame the English for being optimistic given the condition of France and their easier route to the final. They can play smart rugby even though it's boring and their defence is pretty tough. I hope Wales or Ireland will smash them cos like all celts I hate cocky English sport lol.

Shame Wales will not get the chance, but do think Ireland is going to thrash us. As the Welsh say, "And there it was....gone!" GL magatt966, not that it will help.

Wales defence is superb. Still anyone's game though. Can Wales keep their lead?
------------ Look's like I'll be paying out 1000 points to the winner of this cos Wales are going all the way.
UL starbay. The Irish are going home.
FT Wales 22-10 Ireland

What a result. I knew France would be tough for England but I expected better from England. I was actually hoping for an English win unlike most welshmen cos I thought they'd be easier to predict in the semis. France weren't much better than England today but it's hard to know which team will turn up. Two great games of rugby this morning. Now I'm going back to bed.
