"The 2011 WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) has kicked off on Pokerstars. The first day of the 2011 WCOOP featured a total of three events, and all three events ended up easily surpassing their guarantees.
The WCOOP event #1, which was a $215 NL Hold'em (6-Max) tournament, ended up with a total of 7,500 entrants. The total prize pool was $1,500,000, which easily surpassed the $1 million guarantee.
Event #1 is currently paused and will resume tonight with the last 37 players. The most notable player left is Liv Boeree, she is currently in 32nd place with 596.697 in chips.
The second WCOOP event, which was the $10,300 NL Hold'em High Roller tournament, ended up attracting 200 players. This created a total prize pool of $2 million, which easily bested the guarantee of $1.25 million.
The tournament attracted many big names, like Daniel "KidPoker" Negreanu, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, and it was eventually "DYBYDX" from United Kingdom who took down the title and $430.000.
The third event, which was a $215 NLHE tournament, ended up with a total of 10,107 entrants. The event had a guaranteed prize pool of $1.25 million and the total prize pool ended up being just over $2M.
Event #3 is also currently paused and will resume tonight with the last 69 players.
Judging by the first events, the WCOOP will be a success also this year, despite the fact that American players are no longer able to play on Pokerstars."

Unlike Full Tilt, Pokerstars seems to have come through this whole Black Friday thing okay and ready to continue offering poker games. I think it is important for online poker as a whole for Pokerstars, as the flagship site for online poker, to survive and prosper and demonstrate that there is a big interest in the game, and not to regulate it to death. I still think governments can get their slice without killing it.

The thing is mahdrof that Pokerstars had an extra boost from what happened to FT. They managed to come out of BF and then they got most of FT's players so that was a huge advantage.

Not gonna play afterall,it'll just run way too long. The $109 event was once listed with 10 min levels but got changed to 20 minutes without me noticing. Regs on 2+2 estimate the tourney will run 20-21 hours this way,so unless they make it a 2-day-event or change back to 10 min levels I'm not playing, just won't be able to play properly for this long

I dont have enough money at PokerStars in the moment to play the WCOOP. But they offer a lot Freerolls and the best is the German WCOOP Radio Show with Nathalie Hof. You can win a lot of prizes in the radio show (tourney , step tickets etc).
