Hi guys! Being a relative newbie in fixed limit Texas hold'em I was dealt a 44o at CO. Two players before me limped in. I folded but began to wonder wether that hand was reasonable(?) playable or not. I understand that the possibilities of causing other (unknown) players to fold is quite slim and that 44 is easily dominated by a stronger hand with at least 3 other players. Of course I could just stubbornly keep on betraising but if it goes to showdown... it just does not seem a winning strategy.

Today I played 55 from button and got another 5 with the flop, took the pot eventually. Obviously changes to hit the trips on the flop is slim but when you hit you usually collect good values from the AKs, AAs etc. I might play this in some occations depending on my stack/BB ratio.

It doesn't matter at all what your stack/BB ratio is. It's essential to always have 12BB (Big Bets) or more on the table. If that's the case,it doesn't matter at all if you have 12BB or 1000BB since the maximum you can bet per hand is 12BB

Posted by Macubaas: From what i know the rule is called call 20, not 12, but that rule is exclusively for cash games and it's not valid for sng or tournaments...
1st: This rule only applies in NLH,FL is a totally different game in this aspect. 2nd: Yes,it does apply in SNGs and tourneys just as much as in cashgames.
