How good is your game?  0
Started to wonder what's the success level of the average mobster in online poker. How good is your game? Do you make a steady profit monthly or does your luck change as fast as the tide?

Decided to create this small poll to have an idea on how well or not is the community doing. feel free to be honest lol. the voting is from 1 to 5.
1 representing big losses and 5 big profits respectively. by choosing "3" it means your not winning or losing anything substantial.

I put myself in level 3. I never lost money on online poker, although i never have withdraw any profits with no deposit bonus. All the money i deposited, i managed to play it and double it: i am talking about $80 total (so few, i know, but it was just this). When depositng $20, my main objectif is to double it and withdraw profits. After that, my strategy continues the same, but it always look like things dont run the same way they did in the begining and i always end up loosing it. About no deposit bonus, which i apreciate a lot, there were a few where i manage to make some good points, although keeping the same money level (wining one, loosing other) and, after some time, i end broke. There was this single time at Gutshot where things went so well i saw myself with a $60 bankroll, starting with a $10 NDB, but this time i decided not to withdraw and, who would say, i ruined it all. I played a lot of $2 SnG and most of them i won, so i passed to $5 SnG and first 4 i win all. Then things went wrong, bankroll started falling and i passed again to $2 SnG, but this time i wasnt able to maintain the avarage winings of the past, and now there are only a few cents there. But this is the room where i think i will invest with a deposit in the future, i really liked the game there, so, lets see if in a couple of months i come here saying i leveled up...

success level from monthly profit is not enough . I usually make profit from MTT or s n g $ 0.55 or less buy in.
around 60%. When my bankroll increase I start to play at higher level $1 - $ 3 and I lost my winning.

Where is my range ? I played at higher level just to check where is my level ?
I already satisfied when I play at 10 tourney ( $0,11 - $ 0.55 ) and I GOT prize ( not win 1st prize ) 6 from 10.

I'd put myself at a 3.5, but that could just be my ego talking Smile

I'd like to think I'm better than around 80% of the fishes out there anyways. I can proudly say I've been able to make several substantial withdraws in the last year. By no means anything I could live on, but enough to buy myself and my girlfriend a few nice toys.

The funniest thing was how my gf used to bitch about how I was "risking ruin" and "gambling" etc etc. She sure changed her tune the first time I used my winnings to take her out Smile

At my best I can play cash up to around NL400, but my biggest poker enemy is myself and daily life. Tilt and not paying attention to my poker instinct, as well as playing when I am too tired and should really be playing micros until I feel sharper. I always play better when I am on vacation - just so much looser and sharper, instead of having all the difficulties of work swirling in my brain. Am slowly learning to avoid bankroll collapse when not feeling 100%. Smile

I am 4 Its ok, i problably can become a little better if i put more time to study poker instead of grind my way on low stakes.
Didnt play for 5 months and started a week ago (break even).
Looking back i have no clue why my roll is so healthy being a player which is ''just ok'', also wondering what my goal cud be if i become a 100% serieus player which is totally not the case at the moment and also not in the past, me is just a grinder to relax at the evening on the couch which some coffee plus television plus some msn/skype to talk some poker and get relax.
I never gonna try to become a semi or pro (used to think about this), nowadays i just thinking what to do with my roll? Keep on playing? Cash it all out and stop playing? Cash half out and take some shots at a couple of WSOP events? I have no clue Confused
Allthough i think the poker (online and live) bussiness is very intressting i dont see myself playing poker my whole life.

Anyway enough of my b******t Big Smile

Where to put myself Confused ? I won the first tourney that I entered, that was a freeroll for new depositors..tourney for all fishes? Big Smile . Then I withdrew $400 of $500 that I won and continue to play regularly mostly at micro SNG and tourney, and occasionally at micro cash tables. Anyway, my bankroll is depleting, never win anymore touney, just managed to be on top half of the bunch most of the time, sometime in the money. Am quite ok at cash and SNG table especially the 'double' one. Lost most of my bankroll to touney entries Big Smile

I went for no 4 although I would say that's quite a vague statement. I would say that I'm generally a good poker player but good is such a large bracket in this game. I mean not all pros play equally well. Also I think anyone, even a pro, can play bad in any given hand.

I rate myself as ok because I have shown some skill playing live. I turned £20 into £150 in two hours last tuesday and although it was partly luck, I'm hoping for another good performance tomorrow night. I don't really play much online anymore and my bankroll was always so swingy that it's hard to judge skill but I have cashed out online a few times. Still, I would never have the confidence to go pro and I have to be careful about the money I risk so it's quite unlikely I'll ever know for sure how good I am. Big Smile

This is also where I would classify myself right now. 3.5
Some "swingy" periods have kept me there up to now.
So I didn´t vote the poll.

I completely agree with the last sentence, once you actually use your winning to buy some nice stuff, all of a sudden it´s not such an "evil" thing anymore. Big Smile

I would my self put into 3.
I just started playing poker in February this year wit a $50 free bankroll.
I am mainly playing cash games at NL10 and freerolls as well.
Today I have accounts at several rooms and my bankroll is split up between them atm (alltogether around $ 600).
Made the mistake that I signed up with several rooms at nearly the same time and now don´t have the time to play through the NDB.
I will change this from next year on and concentrate on one room after another.

I dont really know where to put myself. My only incomes coming from poker and I can say that Im living from poker for 1 year now so Im a pro Big Smile BUT, Im earning smaller money then lot of recreational players and Im playing micro and low limits so I cant say that I am a poker pro in full meaning of that word.
Let me say 4,5 GRINDER Blink

Congratulations, I didn't know that you were a pro. Do you pay your mortgage/rent or do you live with your parents? In my case I think that if I wouldn't have a mortgage, I will be living as a pro. Just now I'm asking my self if I can afford it ... You are very brave!

I guess the poll is to narrow, I slowly win, have 2 steady eddies now, had a fair few big wins (respectively), but not huge $, still to have an 1k+ win, then again don't play a lot of tourns and when I do I like small fields. ATM I would say 3.3, if I drop stakes 3.8, but will vote 4 for my ego.

I chose level three.
Cant say im bad but cant say im good Smile
Im making some profit most of the times and i have cashed out few times.
I could do better if i was more lucky Smile

I do make a pretty solid profit monthly but still i can't call myself a poker pro because i don't arn that much to live out of poker...

Still, i always try to improve my game and study a lot, i like especially instructional videos, they are the best in my opinon Smile

Anyway, interesting thread Thumbs Up

Not very brave my friend. Its very hard to find decent job here and Im making more on poker monthly then I would do working as a barmen or s**t like that.

------------
I had mortgage when I lived in Belgrade and it was tough to pay it and all bills, food etc and all from poker. Put lot of pressure on you so I wouldnt recommend that.

I voted 4, but I've since (in the last 30 seconds) decided 3 would have been a lot more appropriate:

I can hold my own at small-medium stakes (nl100/200) and cash well in small to medium BI MTT ($20-$50).

Basically - my game is fairly good and when I am playing my "A" game I can definitely crush your average small stakes player, not just the fish.

However - I have serious psychology issues - such as tilt control, bad bankroll management, etc. And these are such an important factor that it definitely drops me from "4" down into a "3". I simply cannot judge myself on my "A" game alone - when so much of my play is my B,C..F game.

I play drunk, I play tired, I play angry, I play outside of my roll, I play stupid, I gamble, etc.

Definitely a '3'.
