with both fulltilt and pokerstars both out of US market they are short of funding sources. maybe things will improve in future and this tournament will be back.

Is it possible that this transmission isnt bringing them any profits, or less profits than they were expecting? In TV, its all about shares, and when something starts to give less profits than it used to give, some departments start to move in order to get advantage of that and to see if they can put new programs on air that will give them more profits. Business life its a dog world!

both fulltilt and PS were big advertisers at the tournament and a large number of players were coming through satellites run on these sites. with both of these gone, expected revenue will be pretty low .
