Are I see! Were you talking bout highpulse being the particular problem site for this? If so, I think there may be an explanation...

Playing there for a few months in my spare time, when not playing other sites, I would often play late evening/early morning. During this time, you would often get under 30 players in the omaha freerolls, and under 60 in the NL ones. This was when lots of players I would see in every tourny I entered using this tactic, and for them it was actually very successful, they would often run down the clock every hand and fold into the cash!

I think these same players may have not realised that this makes no sense now there are larger fileds! It worked for them before, as half the players jus went all in every hand, and with the turbo structure, you would be blinded out if you auto folded to the all in jockies every hand.

This may or may not explain it, but hopefully if it does, it should get better soon! Dont play the freerolls anymore, so I do not know how bad it is Thumbs Up

I don't think i ever encountered on a cash table players that let all the time to pass, they can act slowly because they have too many tables opened, yes..

As for tournaments i saw it happen many times when they want to get in the money.

if you let the clock run down every hand then your a noob, it is not the way to play poker at all, especially if its for a minimal amount , you should therefore take an overdose or slit your wrists, its pathetic , you should at the very least stop sleeping with your blood relations ...... Aww crap! Aww crap! Aww crap! why dont you try win instead of settling for a few pence , i just dont get it at all

Scarey money. Means ' hey, ty for let me steal your blinds'

Let clock down can be usefull in some situations (i remember specially some Rush tournaments) when you want to be ITM more tahan you want to fight for the tourney. That is, when you enter with token or through a satellite.

i have no problem using the clock to the full limit of the time .... thats whats its there for... and if others get frustrated by it .... well thats tough. Also use it if im doing a bit of cleaning in the house or getting the dinner ready or having a cigarette ....

I do it a lot but only on yachting poker freerolls. Most of the players there just register but dont bother to play it so sometimes u are in a field of 70 on which 40 are not really there. if im in a table with a agressive chip leader and dont want to risk busting out just before the money ill just let the clock run down for a few round till the absent players get blinded out. after that im back to normal play.

I only ever tend to run the clock if someone is at the table saying hurry up etc etc, nice easy tilt.
@Chartoule on RUSH its better to sit out and see the hand play out than waste time, this way the other players get to next hand and you can wait and keep a time bank if needed....cant wait to play again.
(they play 200hph, you play 80)

The overwhelming message this thread seems to convey, is that a lot of people will try and "time out into a min cash". That's fine if you don't think you've got a real shot at taking it down, but realistically, you should be abusing the people trying to min cash, instead of being one of them.

1 final table cash is equal if not greater than a whole bunch of min cashes. Scared money is dead money, as the saying goes. Folding to a min-cash = your nothing but dead money.

Personally I try to get in as many hands as possible so I never run down the clock. I think that running down the clock every hand is only for players who want the blinds to get big while they still have a stack, and then they can start shoving at it, and for me this indicates that they are not good players to begin with.

how big is your house if you can clean it and still have time to act on your hand in under 15 seconds plus time bank of 45sec

If you play in a table where most players are loose aggressive, than be tight; if they are tight, than be loose. You should try to play unlike the others in the table” – Its in the books. I never read nothing about the time, but I see better players taking some more time to make their play just to put the oponents nervous. Its all strategy, even in a freeroll. You are the one who have to learn how to deal with it.

The one exception I make to this rule, and I have had to resort to this in the past: playing a turbo SNG, in the early stages the action is exceptionally crazy with lots of noobys shoving. When the game becomes bingo I then run down the clock every hand to bring the blinds up, and then I start shoving with good cards. Usually works for me.

The exact sequence in the Rush is:

1. let time run out.
2. watch quietly as the hand ends.
3. Sit In. -----> 1.

Especially usefull with antes and with the 'quick fold' addicts. Aaaahhh i miss FTP and my $$$$.

Greetings from Barcelona.

Pd. In Yatching Poker freerolls the only thing you must do to be ITM is:

1. Late registers.
2. time out/sit in one or two levels
3. Go to some drink/cigarrette/others during an hour.
4. If you want you can push AA or KK.

im not talking about that situation , if you read back you will understand what im talking about , its not no strategy to make people nervous lol its a pathetic attempt to make it to the money, ITS NOT HOW THE GAME SHOULD BE PLAYED , do you ever watch live poker? have you ever seen anyone use this tactic/strategy as your putting it , if so who? Aww crap! Aww crap! and what your saying is its worth doing, to pay say 5.50 buy in get in the money have 3/4 bb at the most and make a profit of 2 after playing for 1.5hrs, around the bubble is expected and acceptable if your short stacked, but to do it when theres still 30/40/50 players left to be knocked ......thats a poor strategy

Hi again!!

Of course, is a poor strategy. And do not think anyone who is serious about poker use it as usual. I think that can be used as a resource in specific cases, but never as a standard way to deal with a tournament.

Bye!!
