Power Outage - The ultimate bad beat.   0
Haven't been playing poker much, as I've been focused on developing my poker site and writing content like a madman, but i decided to sit down and knock out a session since party tossed me a pretty sweet free bonus.

Mid way through, running 6 tables of the Super turbos, grinding like a beast. Sitting on 3 bubbles, 2 of which i'm a huge chiplead, and bam. Power goes out. Juuuuuuuuusssst long enough to ensure that by the time I come back, i'm blinded out on all but 1 table, where I re-connect JUST in time to see my last 500 chips in the middle.

Variance + power outage = I HATE poker Sad

Oh... That's pretty rough... Sad

My old Internetconnection (I have swiched now to chordless) used to go down every now and then when it rained. The lines where mine, and not the phonecompanys, so I couldn't complain either... I have lost one or two SnG:s my self to that, but I very seldom play more than one at a time, so I have been pretty spared though.

You got my sympthaties!

This is life, man, we don't notice how dependent of exernal things we are, like electricity. Probably you lost some bucks because of the power down but ask the man who was in the surgery room at the same moment being operated on a heart attack Big Smile

Big Smile

Tragic, but funny.

Although, it might be difficult to ask him anything at all.

Well I guess the positive that came from this, is it inspired me to write a pretty good article for my site Tongue

This happens in my country a lot the power blackouts are common in my country, if this happens when you are deep in the tournament you feel very sick.

I had such problems in the past either from power going down completely or falling just enough to turn off my router.
Its taking up to 5-10 mins fro the router to come back online after such an incident .
So i bought a UPS.
Now im losing the internet connection lately lol.
Not worth it though to buy over the air Internet.

Yeah, I have an old UPS, but t's so frigging heavy it's a pain so unpack and setup, so I've been lazy. Might just dig it out and set it up Smile

I can go one better than that..

I was in an MTT on FTP using up the last of my bankroll and found myself fairly shortstacked as we hit the bubble. I picked up AA UTG so shoved the lot in praying for a call.. Well the russian bigstack calls on the SB with something like 7 3 offsuit.

The flop came down and he hits two pairs. The turn came a 2 I was convinced I was gonna bust out just in front of the money...

THe river came a deuce and I win with a higher 2 pair. Only one problem.. I've got no god damn mouse now because thinking I'd lost I'd hurled my optical mouse across the room smashing it into little bits.. I now cant do a thing because without my mouse I can't play...

I ended up cashing, but its a sickener watching hands like QQ being folded and theres sod all you can do about it...

Ouch, self induced bad beat lol. I've done that myself, taken my wireless keyboard and flung it across the room in a fit of rage after a bad beat. Luckily I've been able to refrain from throwing my mouse, because it's a really expensive one lol.

@retribution which site was this.

There was a recent post by BeMyATM where his internet connection went down while playing on Stars. He emailed them and they refunded his entry fees where they deemed that his game had had been "materially affected". Stars or not it's worth a try.

Hmmm, that's worth a thought. It's on party poker, and their customer service is pretty good. In all fairness though this is what disconnection protection is supposed to be for, and I don't know how fair it is for the other players.
