Hello everyone and good morning noon and night to all in all different time zones hehe. I just heard on the news that they are close to discovering what they are calling the "god" particle. this topic is quite interesting to me I've been hearing bits and pieces about it for a few years now but really don't know much about it. does anyone know any of the details on this very interesting part of modern science.

It is very interesting, but what do you want to know, they are just trying to find what the universe is made of, most of this work is going on in the LHC by smashing particles together. I think you are actually talking about the Higgs boson subatomic particle, it in short is nothing, yay we found nothing...LOL..OK its actually the invisible energy field that fills the vacuum in the universe.(in theory) We knew nothing existed, that's what gives objects mass, without it there would be no universe, finding it only helps to proves theory, and destroy some, a lot of the scientific community don't want it to be this simple, and TBH I don't think it is, mass does exist with out it, and partials do exist without it too, the like of light pass straight through them, so the so called god particle does not bring the whole universe together but does give way to theory. And all this is assuming the big band did happen, remember it is a theory itself, and its still possable that we actually just exsist, or God is real, perhaps a universe within a universe and galaxys are just electrons....who knows, perhaps we are not real and a mear thought

One other thing, the CERN scientists working on this HATE the term 'god particle' they don't use it or endorse it.. It's a stupid media-coined phrase and IMHO considerably degrades the actual significance of the higgs-boson.

Hi All. I tend to agree with Bigfoot. How do we know we actually exist? I mean am I going to win this WSOP main event? Possibly?? Am I really here? Is it because my Mother tells me so? Or is she A FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION? The truth is that no-one knows!!!
All I know is that people need something to believe in. It may be God or Big Bang, but it is necessary for them to be something out there !! Human Beings have and will always need more. We are essentially greedy for money, wealth, things and knowledge. Anyway this is getting too deep. Not like me in tournaments at the moment !!
