From what I understand it comes from the word "Donkey", and it of course means that the person calling you that doesn't hold you in high respect, when it comes to poker.
In a video I saw Mike the Mouth claimed that he invented the term, but I am not sure if it is true. As his name indicates, he has said a lot of stuff in his time.
A donkbet is, I belive, when you bet into the preflop aggressor.

Donk is just someone who playss like an idiot and relies on luck for most hands,it doesn't have anything to do ith being a new player, even pro's can be donks sometimes,i know all of us have gone all in pre flop with AA,well that's actually being a donk ( no offense guys ) because you don't know what the other cards are that could be dealt and even though AA is a strong hand it's easaly beaten by 2 of a kind,3 of a kind,straight,flush....etc. so a donk = someone who relies on luck no matter what hand he has

Donkey means Ass. So anyone who either plays like Ass or is an Ass is a donkey. Fish on the other hand is someone who is a inexperienced player and likely to make bad moves. A fish that wins a pot becomes a donkey to some.
really the only people i ever call donks are agro tilted players who nearly ruin the fun at the time with their negative cynical attitudes.
I have a bad habit of becoming a donk when surrrounded by other donks. Trust me its always best to keep a lite mood and ignore them.
This is a personal definition and in no way excludes the more popular view of what a donkey is.

Well, it looks like you got your answer so I won't add my thoughts as to what a donk is. One thing is true reading through the replies and that is' we have all made / played using a donk move. One thing is, when your a beginner and not really sure what your doing as for what's right or wrong in a pro-poker player's eyes you are easily reffered to as a donk. Also, when a pro-player or experienced player for better terms gets burnt by a player with a lessor hand the player refers to one as being a donk. A lot of times it's just a big mouth on tilt because their AA or KK got beat by straight or flush draw.

A donk is a realy lucky fish. Players who play with their money like it is play money. Allin with 23 before flop and then winning. On long term these players wil not be lucky anymore and the will lose a lot of money. Its beter to play normal
Judging by the amount of times i was called donk in a game i would say i am one Don't worry about these poker terms cause they always come from a losing side. Donks calling other donks donks and so on. Fish calling other fish fish and so on. It's pretty random so don't get distracted by it. My best advice would be always play with chat off.

I agree with this explaination...would describe the terms the same way. See most of these types of players in freerolls and micro stakes...after all this is where new players learn the game and the most likely place to find them. So if your going fishing, watch out for the donks...we're supposed to know better.
