Hand converter?   +4
I really would like to have a hand converter here on BRM to discuss more and in a better way about poker.
I think it would be very useful:it's hard to read those long handhistories copied and pasted as text; I lose lot of info during the first read and have to read it again to see stack sizes position and so on.

If it's not too hard for Tony I would really appreciate to have our hand converter here.

and you?

I totally agree with you. The problem doesn't lie with a hand converter though, but with the forum platform that BRM uses.

My best guess is, BRM is a wordpress created site, and there's only a very small amount of programs that work with word press to create a forum. One of which is mingle, which I use on a few of my sites. The problem is, mingles forums are very limited in what they can do, thus why hand histories don't work like they should.

Actually, after looking at the HTML, I doubt it's wordpress. The code is way too sloppy for it to be.

I'm still fairly certain that the problem lies in whatever platform they used for the forums though.

I like to read, some mobsters really know how to describe their hands in a very clear way. But if BRM creates a hand converter, fine with me to. What i really would like for BRM to create would be a simple and direct odd calculator. I used to use one from a site that just stopped having it available. It was really simple: you chose your cards and the number of opponents and it gives you a number. It was nothing complicated, but it helped me in some games. It could even work as another way to call more people to the site…

its very good idea... the problem; is it possible?

It's probably a decent amount of work to get this to work for all poker clients, in all languages.

I've tried some online converters, with some of the hands that were posted here, and that did not work well, so maybe it's not that easy.

Maybe someone knows of an online service that we can link to when posting the hand histories (just like we do when posting a youtube video)?

Think it's a problem because the ones I know are included in sites offeringpoker bonuses so they are BRM competitors and it's not allowed (forum rule #1) posting links of other competitors sites.

But If you know one without this problem I guess it should be ok

good reply anyway Thumbs Up

PS: can't believe no one has clicked on "f**k your ass italians" option yet Big Smile

Yes, very good idea. Some users post tones of lines so always is hard to follow the hands. I think it would be really helpful. I have to recognize that sometimes I'm too lazy to read them ... Aww crap!

Excellent idea, and i think if admin will include one we'll have a lot more threads about commenting hands than before Blink

So we'll also have a lot more strategy discussion on the forum than before Big Smile

LMAO, love the choices.
Also as suggested a while back by the melon man, a hand re player.
I think it might be a little too much work for them to write on, as there are plenty of sites, but even a link to a ready made one would be nice, I'm sure there are plenty about.

I don't mind adding a hand converter. Problem is finding one that we can integrate, because I assume it's something that's not easy to do ourselves.

So if anyone knows of plugins etc. that we can take a look at, send me an email: tony (at) bankrollmob.com

Sounds a good idea as it is cumbersome going through the way hands are displayed at the moment. The better it can be displayed the morte strategy discussion and engagemeent from more people will improve everyones game.

I may have a few ideas. I'll send you an e-mail.

There are other options. I know that there's a few visual hand replayers out there, that take your hand history, and convert it into a "video" replay that you can then embed in forums or link to. Problem is, most of them are on other poker sites which seems to be a big no-no here.

If it's just a matter of converting certain shortcodes into images, then we can easily do that. Just need to know which codes and what kind of images, so our designer can make some images.

I'm not much into these things: what I would like to have here is either a hand converter or a hand replayer to translate hh in something more immediate and intuitive so that (this is my hope) hand discussing will increase here.

ty in advance for your interest Worship Worship

PS: still no f**k your ass italians .... I heard it so many times travelling around the world Tongue Tongue

Admin is giving value to this idea, i think we should go on with it, although at first i seemed to be saying the opposite. What i meant is, i like to read mobsters way of puting his hands, that also shows how they felt while they were playing, and we will lose that with an hand converter. The best is to create the hand converter with the comment of the mobster-poster below, so those who don’t want to read can see the hand and comment in the same.

Well, there are a few different hand converters out there, the most popular likely being the one on FTR. Why not just have a sit down with your designers and take a look at the code their converters output.

It'd be pretty hard for a designer to sit down and code an entire hand converter from scratch, simply due to the fact that there are so many different poker rooms, all of which output hand histories differently. Probably better to just use a pre-existing one. I know a few of the more prominent sites offer "deals" where you can buy the rights to use their converter on you site, with your own watermarks etc and all of their branding removed. Not sure what that'd cost.

It will be nice such an addition to BRM and while i dont have any knowledge
on this tech thing, i think it will be hard to find such a program working with all the
platforms out there.

Like I wrote earlier, feel free to e-mail me links to those hand converts etc: tony (at) bankrollmob.com

Then we can take a look and see if it's something we can buy the rights to use, without their branding/ads in them.
