I'm with you on quite a few of those - Holland is by far the biggest let down, not just for the Dutch but for football lovers as a whole.

Here's mine:

Surprises:
Italy - the darkest horses coming into the tournament and have played the best football in the last two games, really a joy to watch, Pasarelli has made Italian football beautiful again by combining great defence and attack.
England - they did exceptionally well to push Italy so hard and win their group

Dissapointments:

The Dutch..
Spain - they have done the bare minimum to get to the final, have yet to enjoy one of their matches apart from maybe the Ireland game.
Russia - great start then...kabaam!
France - awful awful tournament from every player, Benzema and Ribery did nothing

Nice post, I'll not put numbers, but I really liked this Euro 2012. Very good matches, a good number of goals in the first phase, Portugal was very good of course, I also was surprised by Italy and I hope it wins (but I'm betting for Spain).
What I didn't liked was loosing to Spain, that Russia and Sweden didn't went to the quarters, and some other little things.
But it was a very good cup, so hurray to everybody

For me the three biggest dissapointments of the Euro are:
- CR7 didn't cry after he bit the dust
- Pepe didn't break his two legs
- Sergio Ramos didn't launch the ball to the space in the penalty he kicked.

When i see this post, i think about the main reason why Portuguese and Spanish are brothers but very different.

In Portugal we feel our country, in Spain people feels the region where they live. Here we love our Anthen, In Spain nobody likes the National Ânthen.

I come to foruns talking about euro cup and some people still thinks that we are talking about Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Your nice guy Messiah but you should feel more your country and stop with xenophoby against portuguese (something very usual with the Barcelon a fans). You should think that now you dont have Porutugese players, but in the past you had and in the future you will have them again.

IF YOU DONT RESPECT YOUR COUNTRY, AT LEAST RESPECT MINE!!!

Relax, don't get angry. Being eliminated against Spain has altered your sense of humour. Take it easy, mate Big Smile

You said that I was xenophobe against Portuguese. Xenophoby is a too serious topic so don't use it for making jokes. Giving a opinion about two Portuguese players is not being xenophobe. Well ... in fact, I've been xenophobe only against one of them because the other one is Brazilian, so I hope any Brazilian mobster accuse me of being xenophobe against their lovely country. Anyway, I encorauge you to check in the dictionary the exact meaning of the word for the next time.

Besides, you are nobody to say whether I must support the national team or not. Have you ever studied anything about the story of Spain? If you do it, maybe you'll understand a lot of things and won't make a fool of yourself anymore.

By the way, I know you are a nice guy as well. It's simply I like to argue about football ... don't take it as a personal matter Big Smile

Being eliminated by spain doesnt altered me in anything, iam honest and have eyes to see that spain have possibly the best team of all time.
In Portugal when we study history we study Iberic hiostory, because spain cant live without portugal, and portugal cant live witohut spain, we are brothers since the begining. I know most of spaniards doesnt give a s**t about portugal, but the problem with most of spaniards is that Porutgal is a country that got independence from castilla and leon, and the other spanish regions not. I can see a little of envy, because in my country we treat the spanish like brothers, and spanish treats the portuguese like s**t in spain (in most cases).
In fact iam apologist of a united iberic country, but thats impossible because most of the spoanish doesnt even accept to be spanish.
maybe some other time we can discuss about this kind of stuff, now its time to congratulate you for the wining in euro cup, and tell you to stop to think so much abpout barcelona when we are talking about the country.

Catalonia doesn't usually deal with Portugal. Maybe you are talking about people from Andalusia, Galicia or even Madrid, I don't know. For me, Portugal is a very far country which I'm really fond of because my great-grand father was Portuguese. I can't tell how all the spanish people think because I don't know so many people. I only know what I think: for me, Portugal is a country like another one.

Thanks, but it's not needed. As I told you before, I don't follow the national team.

I bet I've never mentioned Barcelona in our discussion. Indeed we were talking about the national team and I just said that I don't follow it. You really remember to Mourinho, who always talks about Barcelona even he's not asked about Big Smile

my biggest disappointment was spain actually winning it ,although i tipped them to win it i didn't actually want them to do it.
spain were the best team but i had a soft spot for italy in the final and i thought that they might pull off a shock victory, but it was not to be Sad
