The best way at the beginning is to play the double or nothing sng´s. In this games win the half of all players and so you can try to play a tight-aggressive style with abc poker. In addition you can play a lot of freerolls and don´t forget the education with one of the poker schools.

Personally, I'm grinding the $0.02/0.04 Limit Hold'em cash game tables. There are a lot of donks who don't have any clue what so ever of what they're doing. That makes for some small profit. I buy in for $1 at 5 different tables and when I double up at one table, I close that. If I still have tables open 1 hour, I shut all of them down regardless of the profit or losses.
I normally make about a $2 profit from one of those sessions. I play up to 5 of those a day depending on how much time I have.

------------
When you play Limit Hold'em there isn't as much variance as with other games so I think that is more suitable for a beginner. What you have to think about is that if youvwould run into a really bad run is to not let it get to you. Just take a deep breath and regroup and keep playing the same as you did before.

Good luck at the tables! Smile

I would say that overall pot limit omaha is a harder game to master than texas holdem. Playing OOP in Omaha is the hardest thing to do well at in all of the poker games and is an absolute bitch. Position is the most important thing in Omaha much more important than your hole cards as the difference in hand strengths are less.

Keep im mind that omaha is mainly played after the flop.
If you have big raises before the flop mainly means a begiining player with AA in his hands.

value of hand is also very important :

If there is a pair on the table --> carre possible but almost for sure a fullhouse, so don t put a lot of chips on a flush or str
If there are 3 Heart or Spade , Club , Diamond on the table , and no pair --> flush will be highest hand , but watch for the str flush
in other cases watch out for str.

Never put many chips on tris --> loses most of the time to str

i think limit holdem actually has even more variance than nl or even pl which is rarely played. limit vs no limit is purely a matter of taste, some like to grind limit, some nl. same goes with other types- maybe newbie doesn't like cash games? what then sng's or mtt's- choice is endless- the fact is that he should start at the very bottom- smallest stakes
