running out of time  0
How often do you play a tournament and find yourself short on time. Either it gets late and you want to go to bed or you have other plans that have to come first? I find that when i play tourneys with huge fields I forget how long they can take and cos I'm not expecting to win it doesn't cross my mind til its late in the tourney and I'm doing well. Are there any other short-sighted players here?

Been there, done it, bought the T shirt.

Used to love the Daily Dollar on Full Tilt. Five times I final tabled that thing, and it used to take about 10 hours to get there, meaning staying up all night and usually getting into work having had no sleep but buzzing for going to well in it.

I just never learned..

I used to do this, but anymore I plan my game out to where there aren't any that I enter late and the ones that are going to take awhile I start early. I'm actually on schedule with the games I can play and if, I do well will be able to complete. There are a few that I want to play late evening, but at my age I need sleep to work. lol

When I play long tourney sessions it tends to be waking up early to play, not late night games, since all the good peak-euro games start around 3am-5am for me. Sometimes I make the mistake of starting new deep-stack games at around 10-11am after already being up playing since 3am, can really be a drain, but I'm never "out of time" since obviously I only do this when I'm not working.

I bet everyone that plays poker for some time have been in such a situation before.
Some times you dont expect a late tournament will last that long and you sign up for it.
Or some times you know how long it takes and you just go for it.
I have quit a couple of games cause i just couldnt stay till the end of it.

I used to play MTT's with a large field but stopped with them because they last to long.
The only thing that's positive if you have to play for hours and hours is that you're closing to the big money.
Nowadays i play cash games : you can start when you want and stop whenever you want.
So if the wife asks you to clean the house you can stop playing poker without having to worry about you chips Tongue

That happens once a month to me. I'm not the kind of players who plays a lot, but i like to when i have some free time, and that usually happens on friday afternoon. Sometimes, when a tourney starts running good, i always have something that starts distracting me, like my wife wanting to go to dinner (once it cost me a good place at a tourney, and still i got a prize, like i told you on a previous hilarious post)!

I don't run out of time so much but what i find annoying about long MTT tourneys online is the lack of breaks in between. You have to organize food, drinks, and stuff to keep you going well and this takes time. Eating while playing is not always the best thing for your game as you loose concentration. Cash games have more flexibility in you can take breaks whenever you want.

When i've played on FULL TILT POKER, never wonder that because they had CASH-OUT tournaments... where when you want to leave, you transform your chips in money and leave the tournament Big Smile the only problem was with paid from the chips you gave half of the money, because the rest were kept for the final table where they were paid royally Big Smile i can't wait until the november rain will come and bring me satisfied and money ;x

yeah this happens from time to time. especially when i go deeper than expected. not saying this happens a lot Big Smile usually i'm out in the first hour or so. but yeah sh1t happens- sometimes things pop up and you find that you have to leave the tourney for an hour or so, anything is possible imho

I used to play the late freerolls at Party. I played for an hour our two, until it was bedtime, then I sat-out for the rest of the tournamanet. Once I went to bed as chip leader with 800 000 chips, ended up about 30th with a $5 prize. I don't do that anymore... Blink

i make sure i sign up for tournies that i know i will be able to finish. but its the ones where you think you have the time to play until your wife says she wants to go out or wants you to do something else that piss me off lol.

Personnally I don not play longer than 4 hours a day. So I almost never play MTT (except on terminal poker where it s fast poker and MTT last for maximum 2 hours)

For the rest I only play at cash tables or 1-table SNG

As I also have a social life (read wife and kids), I can not play for 8 or more hours a day (so I dont play freerolls)

Mostly I play sessions 1 or 2 hours and the advantage of a cash table is you can leave at any moment without lossing a buy-in.

Do what I did, get your wife more obsessed with poker than you are.

Women are so good spending the money you worked so hard to get, thought it is lottery or something.
I play a lot of MTT -s and try to stay focused, not allways with success. If ypu want a big prize you have to put a lot of effort, so is a matter of ratio prize/time,and not every MTT is a succesfull one
