He probably made a dumb call with something like 2 4 just to see the flop... I had a similar situation , but in my case he called flop turn , and on the river when I was left with only 200 chips in a pot of 7000 he folded.

Could be a misclick, could be that he sees the ace on the flop and expects a c-bet from you anyway. Actually a good thing for you. If he had check-raised you, you had to fold here.

I don’t know if I’m getting it straight, your opponent folded before checking at the flop to see what would be your reaction and he ended up giving you a pot for free after calling your raise pre-flop? Strange… maybe he’s one of those who think they play so well they don’t even mind anymore to see opponent’s reaction when they realize they are behind with few chances of winning. He saw the ace, he though you would have one, he didn’t wanted to wait for you to bet so he would fold before, so he did that faster. It’s the only explanation I can find. That or his mother went to his room at that moment, after a big discussion where he promised he would no longer play online poker during study time.
