How did these guys get their Edge status on FTP?  0
Hi there!
I've been playing on FTP lately and I've seen a lot of "Diamond" and "Platinum" status guys making unbelievably stupid plays and I was just wondering how on earth did these guys get their status? Also how do they sustain a "Diamond" and "Platinum" status by playing on NL5 or even NL2? Is this even possible?
What do you think?

one can buy anything with enough Dollar . They, also, made be doing the dirty three letter word. Shock They can retain the status they were at prior to Black Friday and simply maintain it.

But anyone that had that status prior to shutdown likely wouldn't be playing micros. I was a decent volume player pre-shutdown, and all I got was bronze.

The simple explination is that they gain that status before the black friday of poker...

Another explination would be that they are MTT or SNG players and tried some cash games when you saw them.

I would also guess that they had that status before Black Friday.
Maybe they cashed out now most of their roll and are just playing with a small roll.
Nevertheless they will not keep that status long by playing micros

No idea what those VIP levels mean in terms of rake.. But for perspective, I've once raked over $600 in a day only playing nl 25c/50c and 50c/$1... Not hard if you play many tables at once.. Most I've ever raked in a day (higher stakes than that though) is about $1k.

well the fact that someone had a high status - diamond/platinum on tilt or supernova/supernova elite on stars doesn't really mean that is a good player- you can achieve any status by just having few millions in you account just for gambling...look at some high earning sports/movie stars, businessmen- they have plenty of cash, maybe they just want to have fun- they put in a million or two in their account & enjoy themselves...

Absolutely - although the average high-raking person would definitely be more likely to be a winning player than the general average (total average of all poker players vs average high raker). Simply because you're either incredibly degenerate and losing an absolute s**t tonne (degenerate or wealthy any way) OR you actually do well enough that you're breaking even or winning and hence can play a LOT and rake a lot.

They may have a big number of tables opened simultaneously, and for long periods of time, which make them run big sums on the tables that allows them to achieve those status. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it only matters if you play a lot, of course it will be easier for you (e.g. your wallet) to handle to keep that status if you win many times.

Still think they're tuning their toy(s) at the micro level to use on higher limits to acquire the volume they'll need. At the very least to assist, it's not uncommon nor unusual.

you dont know, maybe they already deposited hundreds or thousands dollars Smile I think there are many rich people who dont know what to do with their money already Big Smile

It does make you wonder how they do it whether by foul means or fair, either way theu are racking uop the hours to get those levels and then they get all the benefits that come with it like special tourneys that gives them e
ven more.....theres nothing quite like the rich (or less honest) getting richer! Good luck guys

I'm with you on that although I can't speak for FultTilt, but I feel the exact same way for half of the donks that have the silver, gold and platinum status at Carbon. There's players that are to be playing at a level in which they're to represent or I think they should represent good poker skills, but that's an opinion. I just stick to my game and accept the bad beats because there's really nothing one can do. There's just idiots!

Well, I'm sure there is a logical explanation, I just find it stange sitting at an NL5 table and finding that about half the players are gold+ status. I mean what will happen at higher limits? Will I find Nanonoko playing at NL10?
And the other strange thing is that someone would expect from such high volume players to have at least grasped the basics of the game, like pot odds or not going all in with bottom pair at the micro limits.
