Are you registering late or early(to build a stack before addonpause) cause i cashed in quite a few of those last year when i played the most, best position was 36th. The ones i went the deepest in where the ones i registered within the hour and build a 30-100k stack before addons. Recently i've registered right before registration ends and not doing that well.

I've tend to be in from the start pretty much and try to let everyone go mad around me and pick my spots. If i can see a cheap flop i will and try and build that way.
As the blinds go up there are lots of crazys having double re-buy and shoving with anything just to try and reach the add-on period. Needless to say this 20 minute spell can be very productive
I limit myself to 1 re-buy if i suck out and then the add-on.
I keep telling myself i must be doing something right at least

For what it's worth, I'm making about $75 to $100 per month playing various games from freerolls up to The Big or Bigger $11 games.
It keeps getting recycled into more and more bigger games until I lose it on a downswing,...then I start all over again at the bottom,....but on average...$75 - $100/month.
If I ever win a huge amount of cash,...up and over a few hundred dollars,....then I guess I'd withdraw it and call it a 'net' win....
You did it very well! Keep going that way!
