Steps on Pokerstars  0
Good day Mobsters.....

Today I wanted to play a few 50-50's of 7 dollar on stars, so I registerd 2 of them( as I like to play 2 tables at the same time) And a few moments later they popped up and I was playing.

The first was ended in no time and I managed to get 10.48 dollar out of it ( after playing just 1 hand !!)

The second one went well aswell, I doubled up with KK and a few hands later my AK became straight and I won another 1500 points.
When there were 6 people left I got AA on the BB, shorstack pushes and button reraises (all in aswell)
So I call and my aces held up, so I was looking at a nice profit again as I had over 7.5 K stack...

But strangly ( for me at that moment) the game continued...what had happend , I had registerd for the wrong SNG and instead of playing a 50-50, I was playing a step1 SNG ...

Good for me that the other players were a bunch of idiots and I managed to hold on to my 1st place and win the SNG and so a Step 2 ticket.

I never botherd playing these steps be4, so I looked for some more info. I saw that I can also use my ticket for the scoop ($27). If u manage to get ur step 4 ticket, U can also register the sunday million.....

But be4 deciding what to do with my ticket, I want some advice from my Mob friends.
So does anyone has more expirience with the steps, I dont think the higher levels will be full of idiots as in that step 1, but how hard is it??

So wish U all a brilliant day and hope to get some replies ( as ur opinion really mathers to me)

Mies

well i love steps (but @stars they stars at too high level)...i play on will hill time from time-step 1 is only $0.16 Shock anyways imo steps are a great way to try to move up the limits without taking too much risk- very often you play tight, don't risk a lot and when you get at least same step ticket minimum you can loosen up a lot & even if you lose take another shot. plus you save lots of rake- basically with a single BI you can pay even a $1 million in rake if you continue to win the replay (same step ticket)...and of course u can take shots at bigger tourneys with step tickets too...correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that at stars anything higher then step 2 take a lot of time to fill...

Thanx for the advice guys.

So I did had a go at the step 2...unbelievable what a donks on that table and that for 27 dollar....
But good for me as I doubled up with KK after I hitted my set on the flop. Then took out 2 guys with 4 6's. And guess what I won the SNG so now I have a step 3 ticket, with a value of 82 dollar...1 more step and I have sunday million....Keep U updated here

These are not a new thing i mean i remember them back from the day i start playing online poker.

The only heads up that i wanted you to give is that on all levels you get tons of donks, the reason is pretty simple because all the people that you play against started on the same level.

Ok update, played the step 3 ...and became 3rd...just sat tight the whole time, just when I tried steeling the blind the guy has AA, limps in and I hit top pair with my K10 ....so stupid , but get to have another try as I got my ticket back.... But so far no real problems, only made one mistake and got punnished ..But get almost 40 vpp's for it aswell, so can generate a lot of them as 5th place in a 9 mans sng cant be that hard Smile

MIES....well done. I have played a few steps and won a tidy sum from them at little expoense based on most people play steps (SNG's essentially) like MTT's. It would appear that the best advice is to sit tight and play monsters...with of course the ocasional (risky) bluff dependant on the competition. As above, my experience is that you get donks all the way up to the top!

Nice run mies, hope next time when you'll start that steps you complete all steps and win the biggest prizes start from only $1. How about win $10.000 from only $1 ??? i think that could be the best winnin but i wonder if the Pokerstars soft will let someone win x10.000 the buy in .

ouch...really bad timing. anyways you still had a good run, and as you said- it was a good learning school.
so what are your final thoughts on steps? are they worth playing or will u go back to regular 1 table sng's?

i really would like to see stars rolling out new steps structure, with step 1 starting with $0.50- 1.50 or so...

I remember some years ago, when i played my first step tournament, i Didn´t knew that it could be used to buy in to other than step tournaments. I play the 3 FFP step tourney with 333 players. I won a place to step 1. Then I won 3 times in a row and entered a step 4 tournament. Didn´t knew that I could use the step ticket for buy in to sunday million Sad and then I lost a coupple of times and won and lose and in the end I lost it all. But yes I got a lot of FFP out of it. But I would have liked to play the sunday million more Smile Nice story for you to. Bad luck you were only one tournament from the sunday million.

I must say that do like the steps....will have an other go soon. And agree that there should be a step before this one. Must say after all it got me 100 vpp's so thats not to bad for 7.50 , so entry for silverstar weekly I got quickly like that. Shame i was only one hand away from step 4 , really want to play that sunday million again ( after 1st 2 times were no succes).might try that 1 dollar hyper steps ...never know..

Else i will try again in the weekend, as i really know that I could have one that last one aswell and the first step 3 I made a stupid mistake, so must be able ...will definatly try again

Steps are for me (almost) the same like satellite tournaments.
There is one satellite where I am waiting for since I've started to play Pokerstars this year - that is the FPP Mega-Path to the Carribean Adventure.
U need to win something like 9 tournaments in a row (but everytime 1/3 of the player field).
And u can start from 10 FPP (+R) tournaments.
I'm not wasting my FPP to anything besides that because I think it will give me the biggest reward. A live sattelite tournament, with cash, without spending a dime.
And the player field are really weak. And there are other advantages those satellites offer Blink

------------
Forgot to tell you mies, mooi gedaan! Thumbs Up
For your (probably) first time u play those this is an awesome achievement.
