G'day Mates
Well I just finished a 6 hour grind session and I would say it was a great session. I did well on the rounders cash tables and increased my Bankroll. Also spent 70 Fpp's to play a satelight which I won Cashed out for the T$'s
Going to take a few hours nap then go back at it for more grinding.
Current cash is $58.57 + T$ 11 for a total of $69.57
Tired mentally now so going to rest now. Hope to do equally well when I play my next session in a couple hours. Be cool
Ronin
------------ well I just got taken out of The Sunday Two Grand in 10th place for a $14 win. It was a crappy way to get taken out after 5 1/2 hours but it only cost me 50 Fpp's to play the tournament so I cant complain too much about adding the $14 to my climbing bankroll. Hope to finally raise above the $100 threshold tomorrow. The 0.05/0.10 NL Holdem tables are calling my name
be cool mates

Well I will do two things is this post.
1st- I know that the goal of making $25K by the 01/01/2014 goal date is really going to be an uphill battle, There are only 4 months left in 2013. This number was not just chosen out of thin air. Some of you might recall a thread way back in Dec 2012 in which people were asked what their goals for 2013 was. My goal for poker was to make 25K playing online poker which would allow me to pay all my bills,. I realize that over the next 4 months I will most likely not make my goal for the year. It has been a very bad year for me with months spent in the hospital and very little poker actually getting played.
2nd- I want to let people know that I will be doing all updates within the threads 1st post.
Ronin, wish u all the best for your challange...
Remenber in the beginning it will be hard to double your BR but as I see you are on the good way.
Maybe I could buy some shares of your buyin and get a share of your endgoa... even if it s not 25k but 5 k it would be a nice return.

Thank you for your kind offer mate. Would not even know how to properly accept such a generous offer. I am sure that there will be at least some mobsters who will try to make it a negative thing. Right now I am just going to keep to the plan and grind away at the goal. It really is a game of volume. Yesterday I did a 6 hour long session and then made a mistake which cost me my entire roll which I had at that particular table. (I think it was a little over $12) I immediately realized I needed a break, since I obviously had slipped off from my "A" game. So I closed all my other tables down and took a nap. Once I woke back up and had some food and got a drink I started another session. In stead of grinding away at the multiple table though I just played in the Sunday 2K. The 50 Fpp buy in cost was well with proper Bankroll Management Those 50 Fpp's became a 10th place finish for $14 added to my bank. Then I took another break. Well it is a new day and in about 30 minutes I shall begin another grinding session. volume cancells out negative variance over the long haul.

The problem is that volume also cancels positive variance. Your'e gonna have bad plays/bad luck that will hurt you from time to time. What you've left to in the end of the day is your true EV.
A good player that plays conservatively enough can control the variance in such way that the downswings won't kill him. I'm not sure that your challenging goal lets you play conservatively enough to achieve that.

Try not to fixate to much on the 25K goal. It was merely the initial goal which I had set for the entire year of 2013. I am not even worried about it any more as 75% is over with already. It has been one very long and bad year for me health wise. Regardless if it makes people feel better I would be pleased to make $3K - 5K now. I only placed the original years goal as a reminder to myself that I had a goal which I have not been working towards. Now, I am aiming for the stars and hoping to hit the moon

I wish you luck in your quest. I feel the same way, setting tough goals and working towards them is a growth experience, whether you make it or not. And if you make it, well .....

Thank you for the encouragement mate. Just took a small break to eat lunch. Man can not do his best play when his tummy keeps making distracting grumbling noises because you have not eaten in 14 hours. Had home made stew for lunch today. Well time to go back to grinding with the fishes. be cool mate

RONIN my good man..... love your approach to this and of course your optimistic goals which may have taken somewhat of a crticism from some, but you have to set targets which stretch your capacity and ability. Whats the point of setting a target of earning $14? You wouldhave already achieved it and would now be setting another goal. Alternatively you could walk away sayng I have achieved my goal. As it is, you seem like you are in for the long haul and I wish you every success.

Not a lot to report right now. My old room mate Mike stopped by tonight just after I started to grind so I shut the tables down. He and I hung out and played Xcom on his PS3 for about 6 hours. We ate pizza and had some laughs. It was a great time catching up with an old friend whom I am closer too then my own brother.
Still I did play some poker today and did build my stack up some more.

25.000$ in 3,5 months. If you achieve that you will become my new idol, Ronin. It's not impossible though, but lady luck should be on your side every time. Hope she will. Setting goal for yourself is important. Your approach has given me encouragement to play poker more often the upcoming months. My goal is getting really far in a major tournament (like the Sunday Storm in Stars). GL GL!

Every day you lose just makes it harder and harder to complete your challenge successfully mate, but in this case, speaking realistically, i think the 25k is not the main goal anymore. I would consider ur challenge a complete success if you continue to climb consistently all the way till the end of the year, no matter how much you made in the end. Even $500 (knowing that u started with only $48 ) would be a result to be very proud of. Once again GL

Well I am currently retired as I am now listed as disabled. I was struck from behind by a drunk driver in march 2005. The accident should have killed me but I survived to the shock of everyone. Now I am a broken 45 year old man who they say will never work again. Right now I am writing while sitting in my hospital style adjustable bed. I am Not looking for sympathy mate. Just telling you the facts since you asked. I play online poker and do some writing.

G'day mate
I have been a gamer since I played my 1st D&D game when I was 7 years old. I do still game with friends whenever we can all get together. The answer to the bankroll is in the very 1st post of this thread but I will repeat it here for you as I think there is a really important lesson to be learn by all mobsters. Learn from my stupidity.
Well last night I could not sleep, my pain level was through the roof, took some morphine, an hour later felt much better, could not sleep so decided to play some poker. Did I work the plan... NO I did not. I wanted action and sat down at a 0.50/1.00 table and lost to 2 bad beats and a suck out. bam a $60 lose. Realised what the hell I was doing to my Bankroll and stopped playing. Started playing again once more of the morphine high wore itself off and started grind with just over $26. Clawed myself back up to $53.25 but I am pissed at myself for not sticking to the plan. Learn from my stupidity my friends. Drugs makes you real invincible and you make bad judgement calls. Yes I got my money in good but I lost before I even played the first hand because I walked away from the plan that had been working up until that point. It was Stupid.
I is now 11:56 am and I am going to start gring again in about 10 minutes. Will be working the plan!

Yeah that's exactly how lost that £400 I made last month. Just stick to a stake where you have at least 20 buy ins minimum then you cannot go wrong like I did. Of course we can handle that stake but the beats, bad calls and variance could take its toll with our small bank rolls as sticking to the above strategy is best.
